Andhra Pradesh: ANDRITZ Secures 1,800 MW Gandikota PSP Order from Adani Green

This is the third contract awarded to ANDRITZ by AGEL, following the order for the 500 MW Chitravathi project in 2023 and the 1,500 MW Tarali project earlier this year. ANDRITZ is currently involved in the implementation of five new PSP's in India

Andhra Pradesh: ANDRITZ Secures 1,800 MW Gandikota PSP Order from Adani Green

Austria-based international technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a renewable energy company in India. Austria received the latest order to equip the new Gandikota pumped storage plant in the YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, India. ANDRITZ, sharing these details in a press release, said it will supply reversible pump turbines, motor-generators, and related electromechanical equipment.

ANDRITZ explained, "India is significantly expanding its pumped storage capacity to balance the growing share of variable renewable energy from solar and wind in its energy mix. AGEL’s Gandikota pumped storage plant, with a capacity of 1,800 MW, will make a major contribution to this expansion. This is the third contract awarded to ANDRITZ by AGEL, following the order for the 500 MW Chitravathi project in 2023 and the 1,500 MW Tarali project earlier this year. The order value is in the double-digit millions of euros."

International technology group ANDRITZ, in the previous collaboration in June 2025, secured from order from Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) to equip the new Tarali pumped storage plant in the Satara district of Maharashtra, India. ANDRITZ secured the earliest order to supply pump turbines, motor generators, and related electromechanical equipment.

Additionally, in February earlier this year, Adani Green shared its plans to add over 5 GW of hydro PSP capacity by 2030. The company has already commenced construction of its 500 MW hydro-pumped storage project at Chitravathi River in Andhra Pradesh, 1,500 MW at Tarali in Maharashtra, and 1,800 MW at Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh.

Sharing the order details, ANDRITZ mentioned that the scope of work for is Gandikota project includes the design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning of the pumped storage units along with all associated auxiliaries. It further explained, "The project will be executed using ANDRITZ’s manufacturing facilities in India, supported by its global network."

ANDRITZ, while sharing the latest order, said, "The repeat order from AGEL underlines ANDRITZ’s strong position in the Indian hydropower market and its expertise in delivering pumped storage solutions, which play a crucial role in ensuring grid stability and supporting the integration of variable renewable energy. ANDRITZ is currently involved in the implementation of five new pumped storage plants in India."
