United States (US)-based solar tracker company Nextracker has recently signed a 305 MW solar project with ReNew Private in Anantapur, India. Nextracker has contracted for over 10 GW of annual manufacturing capacity in India, besides establishing an R&D centre for excellence in Bengaluru. The firm competes with most of its global peers in the Indian market as well.

ReNew Erstwhile Collaboration In Andhra Pradesh 

ReNew’s latest collaboration in Andhra Pradesh follows its recent announcement to invest nearly INR 22,000 crore (about USD 2.5 billion) to set up hybrid renewable energy projects in the state’s Anantapur district. The planned complex—comprising around 2.8 GW of generation capacity, including 1.8 GWp of solar and 1 GW of wind—will also include a 2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it one of the largest renewable energy hubs at a single location in India.

In the first phase of the project, ReNew plans to set up 587 MWp solar and 250 MW wind energy capacity, along with a 415 MWh BESS, for which PPAs have already been signed. The rest of the capacity will be developed in subsequent phases. ReNew currently has a 717 MW of operational wind capacity and 60 MW of solar capacity spread over 10 sites in Andhra PradeshThe company is expected to generate ~1,500 direct and indirect jobs as it works in tandem with the government towards the state’s target of generating 78.5 GW of solar, 35 GW of wind power capacity, and 25 GWh of battery energy storage.
