Aatmanirbhar Solar to Set Up 1.6 GW Module Plant In MP By Manish Kumar/ Updated On Mon, May 5th, 2025 Aatmanirbhar Solar to Set Up 1.6 GW Module Plant In MP Gujarat-based solar module manufacturer Aatmanirbhar Solar has announced plans to expand its production capacity significantly with a new 1.6 gigawatt (GW) fully automated facility based on TOPCon technology in Madhya Pradesh. The move comes in response to rising demand for high-efficiency solar modules across India, said Niket Shah, Managing Director of Aatmanirbhar Solar. “We are currently producing Mono PERC and TOPCon modules with an existing capacity of 200 megawatts (MW). Given the consistent growth in demand across both technologies, we have decided to expand and cater to the needs of India’s fast-growing solar sector,” Shah told Saur Energy. Upcoming MP Plant The upcoming plant, he said, will be fully automated and focused on TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) technology, known for its superior efficiency and performance. The company is seeing month-on-month growth in demand for both Mono PERC and TOPCon modules, especially from government and infrastructure-linked projects requiring DCR compliance. The company also has long-term plans to scale up the Madhya Pradesh facility to 4 GW within 18 months of its commissioning. “Once our 1.6 GW plant is operational, we aim to scale it up to 4 GW. Eventually, we may plan to foray into solar cell manufacturing after expanding our solar module lines,” Shah said, adding that the government’s recently announced Aatmanirbhar Clean Energy Mission (ALCM) has added further momentum to the domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem. Solar Cell Production According to Shah, solar cell manufacturing is a complex process but increasingly essential as India pushes for vertical integration in the solar supply chain. Aatmanirbhar Solar is also looking to strengthen its market presence in southern India. “From July, we will start taking bookings for our new Madhya Pradesh facility. Expanding our reach in South India is one of our top priorities,” Shah told Saur Energy. Tags: India, Investment, Madhya Pradesh, MP, solar manufacturing, solar module
