Aatmanirbhar Solar to Begin G12R Module Production in Madhya Pradesh from Dec

Gujarat-based module maker Aatmanirbhar Solar is preparing for its next phase of expansion, with plans to launch an advanced solar module manufacturing line in Madhya Pradesh. The company will begin producing G12R-based modules at the new plant.

Niket Shah, Managing Director of Aatmanirbhar Solar, told Saur Energy that the line is expected to go live in December this year. This will add to the company’s existing operations in Gujarat.

From Gujarat to MP

“Right now, we have 300 MW of module manufacturing capacity at our Gujarat plant. We are expanding further with an additional 1.6 GW of module capacity, for which we have chosen Madhya Pradesh. From day one, this plant will produce G12R solar modules,” Shah said.

He added that while the company is currently prioritising module manufacturing, it is also evaluating a move into solar cell production and battery energy storage systems (BESS). “Once the MP module plant is operational in December, we will explore opportunities to enter solar cells and BESS,” he said.

Mono-PERC To TOPCon 

According to Shah, Aatmanirbhar Solar has also shifted from mono-PERC to TOPCon technology to meet market demand. “In the last one year, our revenues have increased nearly 400-fold. Schemes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM are driving strong demand for modules,” he said.

Shah noted that government schemes often fuel sectoral growth and hinted at wider industry expansion. “With ALMM in place, we expect more companies to enter solar cell manufacturing,” he added.

In the latest trend, many solar module manufacturers have transitioned from M10 solar modules to G12R modules to increase the efficiency of the modules from the same size, making it more apt for large sections of the solar industry.
