Ashden India Collective (AIC) – a network of India-based winners of the prestigious Ashden Awards. It has 27 member organisations and entrepreneurs from around India. Individually the members of the Collective work to increase the number of Indians benefiting from affordable, clean energy.

In an exclusive interview with Saur Energy International during the India Distributed Energy Forum (IDEF) and Expo, organized by GOGLA along with Ashden India Collective and IFC’s Lighting Asia/ India program at New Delhi, Hemant Lamba, Chairperson, Ashden India Collective shared his views on various topics including motive behind Ashden awards, its scope and process of selecting award winners, new expansion areas etc.

He also said that “The biggest challenge at this moment is – fast growth of India. We have to grow fast, we can’t stop that and at the same time to sustain that growth we have to start thinking about the impact of that growth much earlier. So, to match the use of natural energy or clean assistance and sustain the economic growth of the country this is the biggest challenge at this point”.
