The rise of EVs also saw the emergence of sectors on which EVs depend, directly or indirectly. For instance, some of the largest EV battery manufacturers benefitted from the saga of the transition to green mobility. Similarly, to support the seamless adaptation of EVs for mobility, massive charging station networks  are imminent.

EVBox (Netherlands)

EVBox, located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a leading global provider of electric vehicle supply equipment and charging management software and is also one of the largest EV charging station companies in the world. It has facilities across Europe and North America.

EVBox offers a wide range of commercial and residential fast-charging stations, easily accessible at affordable prices. EVBox has established its position in the market by partnering with various network providers and electrical equipment manufacturers to provide charging stations to enterprises, and residents. The company has shipped over 400,000 charging ports to customers and partners in over 70 countries worldwide. The best part is EVBox services ALL types of electric cars, even semi-electric vehicles.

ChargePoint, Inc. (USA)

Formerly known as Coulomb Technologies, the American company is headquartered in Campbell, California. ChargePoint provides services to businesses, utilities, governments, malls, and parking service providers all around the world. With over 200,000 EV charging points globally, ChargePoint is one of the world’s largest open electric vehicle charging networks. In addition, ChargePoint has an additional 355,000 public places to charge through roaming integrations with other major networks.

The company offers cloud-based service options in the form of yearly subscriptions for supplying tools, data, payment processing, and driver assistance. Its mobile app helps to track available stations in a particular area to charge electric vehicles. In a bid to expand its network in Europe, ChargePoint acquired ViriCiti in August 2021. ViriCiti is an Amsterdam-based provider of electric buses and commercial fleets.

ABB (Switzerland)

Zurich-based Swiss EV charging station company ABB Ltd is one of the world’s largest EV charging station companies. ABB sold more than 680,000 electric vehicle chargers across more than 85 markets; over 30,000 DC fast chargers and 650,000 AC chargers. Its portfolio ranges from the AC wallbox for home, work or retail installations to the Terra 360 which is ideal for refuelling stations, urban charging stations, retail parking and fleet applications. Terra 360 is one of the world’s fastest all-in-one electric car chargers.

Earlier this year, ABB E-mobility signed a global framework agreement (GFA) with Shell to supply ABB’s end-to-end portfolio of AC and DC charging stations. The collaboration will benefit Shell in its target to deploy 2,500,000 charge points by 2030.

Teld New Energy (China)

TELD NEW ENERGY Co. Ltd., or TELD, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TGOOD and is mainly engaged in New Energy EV charging network construction and operation and Internet appreciation services. The company has expanded significantly in the charging station sector. Teld is located in Qingdao Shi, Shandong, China.

TELD is aiming at building the largest automobile charging system Eco-cooperation in China. As of September 2022, Teld had the largest EV fast charging network in China. The Chinese firm also is one of the largest EV charging station companies in the world. TELD has over 316,000 EV charging station units and around 20,000 stations.

Star Charge (China)

Star Charge, also known as Wanbang Digital Energy, is into researching and developing charging technology and producing equipment for New Energy Vehicles. Star Charge has formed strategic partnerships with almost 60 Auto OEMs worldwide, including Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, and Volkswagen as international OEMs, and BYD and BAIC as the domestic OEMs.

Owing to its smart equipment, platforms, users and data operation services, it has become a major private electric vehicle charging operator in China with significant advantages in high-power charging technology and intelligent operation and maintenance platform. Star Charge is one of China’s largest EV charging station providers with over 310,000 units deployed.
