Taiwan-headquartered Delta Electronics plans to launch a new line of cost-effective, locally developed solar inverters for India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) market by the end of 2025, the company said in a recent interaction with Saur Energy.

The firm, known for its power and energy management solutions, is sharpening its focus on India’s clean energy transition with renewed investment in solar inverters, energy storage systems, and EV charging infrastructure.

Renewed Thrust On Solar Inverters

“We had scaled back earlier due to some reasons, but our renewed focus on local R&D and manufacturing has helped us achieve a cost-competitive, high-quality product,” said Rachna Kango, Senior Director, ESG & Strategic Marketing Delta Electronics India Private Limited

The upcoming string inverters, scheduled for a Q3–Q4 2025 launch, are being developed entirely by Delta’s Indian R&D team under the Make in India initiative. The grid-connected units will cater to behind-the-meter C&I applications, with specifications yet to be disclosed.

Tapping into energy storage

Delta is also strengthening its position in battery energy storage systems (BESS), a key enabler for managing renewable intermittency. The company is currently supplying systems to C&I clients in India, offering three to four hours of backup, depending on facility requirements.

“Energy storage is going to be a very important component,” Kango said. “Our systems come with intelligent software that determines the optimal time to draw power from storage, inverter, or the grid.”

While current deployments are focused on mid-sized commercial and industrial users, Delta intends to scale up to utility-scale storage as market conditions evolve.

Manufacturing base and EV charger footprint

Delta operates two major manufacturing facilities in Rudrapur (Uttarakhand) and Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu). The Krishnagiri site supports large-scale production of EV chargers, solar inverters, and telecom power solutions, enabling economies of scale across business segments.

In the EV charging sector, Delta has installed over 8,000 chargers in India and shipped more than 2 million units globally. Its product line spans AC and DC fast chargers, including 240 kW heavy-duty chargers for electric buses.

“We provide the full range of EV chargers for four-wheelers and buses,” Kango said. “We’re also innovating with features like credit card payment integration and multi-vehicle charging capabilities.”
