Technical Principal MEP + Structural

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of project delivery with an interest in digital design. Key elements of the role include:

• Managing a project or portfolio of projects of various sizes across several sectors
• Providing the GDS Built Environment team with leadership and guidance focused on project delivery and technical quality, including mentoring and supporting junior technical staff
• Carrying out technical peer reviews of buildings structures projects
• Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
• Managing commercial and/or contractual aspects of projects
• Managing project budgets, including staffing forecasts
• Providing support in the development of the business including preparation of fee proposals and bid documents
• Presenting technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualification And Experience:-

As an associate/ Technical Principal engineer you will need:

• High quality, hands-on conceptual/technical/analytical skills in Engineering
• To be conversant in up to date codes of practice and technical guidance
• An enthusiastic and dynamic approach to work.
• Good to have Professional/ Chartered engineer status as a member or fellow of a relevant institution.
• An outward facing personality with good interpersonal skills
• Self-motivation with good organisational capability
• An appreciation of UK construction law and contracts
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Client care and development skills
• An ability to evaluate and rationalise risk
• Flexibility, to be willing to question and respond in a positive approach
• IT literacy
• Able to provide guidance on necessary software and drawing packages (e.g. Revit) to the Built Environment team
• Desired qualifications/competencies include:
• Experience in business development
• A broad background of experience in building design and construction
• Willingness to travel on business when appropriate
• Ability to win work and sell the services of the company
