Job Description

Reporting to the Grid Automation India CoE Leader and functionally to the Core Technology Teams Leader, the Core Technology Teams Manager (India) will join the Core Technology management team and lead a local team of experts and engineers focused on DevOps, Cyber and Controls Software Platform development activities. This role will be responsible for building a Core Technology teams center of excellence within India to provide R&D services, expertise and standardized designs to GA product and system solution R&D teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Operate in a matrix-based organization to manage teams and R&D deliverables as per the GA technology strategy.
  • Establish a recognized India based Core Technology team for R&D services, expertise, and standardized designs.
  • Manage teams of engineers including recruitment, assignment, coaching, professional development and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other managers, program technical leads and project managers, to plan and execute multiple, concurrent global R&D projects / activities.
  • Provide direct technical team leadership in cases where self-contained modules / deliveries are owned by the team.
  • Supporting multiple global development projects to deliver high quality deliveries on schedule.
  • Integrate the DevOps / Agile culture into the local region aligned with the CTT program managers.
  • Integrate an internal open-source community for CSP and Cyber development into the local region.
  • Implement a learning and development platform for a core technology center of excellence.
  • Engage with local development service-providers / partners / universities to enable growth and flexibility for the CTT’s.
  • Support NTI activity alongside the CSP program manager and in conjunction with relevant teams for virtualization and real-time support using EdgeOS.
  • Explore and seek where possible external funding to support new technology introduction and product development.
  • Be a technical evangelist of the technologies and Agile culture against the technology roadmaps / developments.
  • Collaborate with peers in all GE Renewable Energy businesses around the globe.
  • Perform and contribute to conflict resolution, resource planning & staffing, budgeting, productivity and KPI targets.
  • Perform the day-to-day management of local team employees alongside the CTT program managers.

Qualifications And Experiences:-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology or Engineering.
  • 8 to 10 years of hands on SW development experience with at least 2-3 years years of professional experience in managing and leading teams.
  • Experience establishing and evolving R&D structures, involving DevOps and Agile / Lean development approaches.
  • Ability to articulate technical strategy, development roadmaps and projects status.
  • Exceptional collaboration, leadership and influencing skills to drive transformation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to document and help in decision process.

Desired Characteristics:-

  • Experience in working with external partners for development activities.
  • Experience with quality systems and continuous improvement including KPIs and tracking.
  • Familiarity with GA products and associated technologies.
  • Experience working in a large, global company.
  • Motivated great teammate, self- starter, results oriented ​
