Job Description

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
Function Description:-
  • Work through the product lifecycle and drive from Concept to Design and product release working through the concept, design, testing and qualification lifecycles and managing a team.

Role Objective:-

  • Experience in New Product development cycle.
  • Expertise in Creo/Solidworks software. Good Knowledge in PDM windchill & PLM software.
  • Good Knowledge and through understating of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating and other Metal Forming and plastic miniaturing processes. Added advantage would be good knowledge in additive manufacturing process.
  • Experience in design tools such as GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, and Tolerance Stack ups.
  • Experience in Product Design involving Plastic and Sheet Metal parts.
  • Excellent Problem solving and Analytical Skills. Knowledge of process like 8D, Why Why analysis etc.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control methodology, DFSS is an advantage.
  • Product Testing & Qualification for new products.
  • Product knowledge on connector is an advantage.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies, materials and processes and use the information to initiate cost saving or product enhancing projects.
  • Contribute to achieving departmental targets – specifically ‘Delivery on Time’ targets for sustaining activities.
  • Strong Technical Aptitude with Willingness to learn new Technologies.
  • Knowledge of six sigma tools will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Certifications and Regulatory Standards (EN, MIL etc.) will be an added advantage.

Education / Knowledge:-

  • BE/ B.Tech (Mehanical Eng.)
  • Strong knowledge of Machining, plating, molding
  • Strong knowledge about various phases of product realization, product development & sustenance engineering

Qualification And Experience:-

  • 8 to 12 years of experience on managing NPD projects in Aerospace, Automotive or Industrial Domain Industries
  • Experience in Product life cycle management role.
  • Experience in direct interaction with customers.
  • Should have team handling experience.
  • Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Hands on experience in design tools such as GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, and Tolerance Stack ups.
  • Good Problem solving and Analytical Skills.
  • Product Testing & Qualification exposure is an advantage.
