Burns & McDonnell’s Mumbai India office is seeking a structural engineer to serve both public and private clients. The Structural Engineer will support project planning and detailed engineering of water and wastewater structural systems. Following is a description of typical job responsibilities.
- Support structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
- Prepare structural specifications, design details, and calculations for steel, concrete, masonry and stainless steel structures. Design foundations and substructures for pre-engineered metal buildings, pre-manufactured buildings (i.e. MCC or PDC electrical buildings), pre-engineered and pre-manufactured tanks and equipment, pipe and cable tray racks and individual supports, and pipe bridges.
- Design reinforced concrete water holding basins (i.e. clarifiers, thickeners, aeration basins, pump stations) and other environmental structures in accordance with ACI 350.
- Review structural vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
- Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget, staffing planning and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change.
- Apply expert knowledge of commonly used structural concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the structural engineering services industry.
- Quality review production drawings and verify corrections are made.
- Work with field personnel to resolve design problems, support field inspections and test structural systems.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the Civil /Structural engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
Qualification And Experience:-
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from an institution accredited by India's National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of “A” or better.
- 0 to 5 years structural engineering experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) experience preferred.
- Experience designing structural systems for water and wastewater and/or experience designing piping systems for oil, gas, and chemicals.
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7, API 650, NFPA 30, PIP CVC01015 and STC01015).
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with structural finite element software such as RISA, SAP, STAAD, or similar finite-element software packages. Experience with non-linear finite element analysis a plus.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Proficiency in written & verbal English and experience working with United States based resources.
