Job Description

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Develop and manage projects for new product development and supplier improvement, including supply chain improvement projects such as supplier risk mitigation, regionalization, and cost containment
  • Drive supplier and part qualification process through assessments and PPAPs; support supplier selection process by assessing robustness of supplier’s systems through on-site audits (ESAC); ensure compliance with Emerson drawings and purchase orders.
  • Identify and address supplier quality issues affecting key measures; manage non-conforming material disposition processes as necessary (rework / return / scrap).
  • Work with global supplier quality team to create effective corrective action plans to address supplier quality issues; minimize exposure and prevent reoccurrence through SCARs and PPAPs; Resolve supplier corrective action reports (SCAR), major quality issues, and upload documents in the database
  • Conduct analysis, inspection, design, testing, and integration to ensure the quality of assigned product or component; resolve specific and complex quality issues; identify quality improvement opportunities and champion activities to implement them.
  • Develop and conduct training to incorporate SPC, SQC, problem-solving, and other process improvement programs into the daily work regimen across the organization and at suppliers
  • Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records
  • Prepare reports to communicate status and results of quality activities; present technical and program information to team members and management
  • Develop new work processes, quality tools, validate jigs and fixtures control at supplier’s end and functional capabilities to improve supplier quality, delivery, and lead-time.
  • Conduct supplier process audits, identify gaps, prepare action register to close them, and track implementation
  • Lead design/technical reviews prior to bidding and post award to give clarity to supplier on critical dimensions, performance parameters, material specification, method of measurement, etc., to enable them to supply products with reliable and consistent quality
  • Disposition of First Article (FA) approvals and documents required; review of FA and timeline & pilot run follow-up through gate process; train suppliers, if necessary
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by direct supervisor or management

Education / Experience Required:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics) required.
  • Expertise in sand casting, investment casting, Forging and machining – Steel / Stainless steel, Cast Iron / Aluminium. Experience in die casting, rubber, plastic, springs, stampings are a plus.
  • 6+ years’ relevant work experience in supplier quality improvement efforts with demonstrated analytical, communication, process improvements and decision-making skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:-

  • Must possess project management and auditing skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is necessary, and possessing certification as a Green Belt or Black Belt would provide an extra benefit..
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), quality systems requirements and customer specifications
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Strong presentation skills
  • Willing to travel in India and abroad.
  • International experience preferred. English / Tamil required; Hindi added advantage.
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity, develop and implement plans and solutions ensuring continuous improvement
