Job Description

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

ROLE OBJECTIVE:-

The Senior R&D Product Development Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager, Energy Engineering and will be responsible for New Product Development and sustaining engineering support for existing products. The role will work one of TE Energy’s product line, Insulation & Protection for high voltage applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:-

  • Design and development of medium and high voltage application products.
  • Preparation of detailed design, design verification plan, DFMEA.
  • Successfully facilitate transfer and support of new product introduction into high volume manufacturing.
  • Support product compliance and approvals for all new products.
  • Be a strong technical partner and provide support to product management teams.
  • Managing a team of product development engineer & technical specialist.
  • Reverse engineering of competitor products.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:-

  • Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Experience in product design and development of high-voltage power networks and/or network accessories such as Insulators, surge arrestors, etc.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience and 3+ years’ experience in energy applications.
  • Working knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards.
  • Manufacturing knowledge (casting, machining, sheet metal & injection molding, etc).
  • Experience in reverse engineering an advantage.

  • Strong customer service mindset and mentality of delivering quality products and services on time and within company cost and profitability objectives.
  • Fluent communication skills facilitating collaboration with own team, customers, internal business leaders and technology leaders to create value.
  • Individual must be self-motivated and require minimum supervision, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with and balance multiple competing priorities
