Job Description

WWF-India is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to be part of a team implementing this program. The geographic focus of this work is the Sundarbans region of West Bengal where the programme aims to promote at a practice and policy level, renewable energy based productive use applications ranging from water pumping/water purification and crop processing to electric mobility. The RE Specialist would lead the design and implementation of this component of the programme. This includes background analysis of the energy demand, identification of potential suppliers for cost-effective technical interventions/solutions, supervising their on-ground timely implementation, post-implementation follow-up, documenting the process to draw learnings and working with the larger team to influence RE policy. The position also requires management of a small team in their field, working on energy aspects.

Roles & Responsibilities:-

  • Providing strategic thinking and develop appropriate productive RE solutions in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Supervising and guiding the field team working on energy aspects in the Sundarbans towards implementation of these solutions.
  • Engaging with the wider programme team to develop strategies to influence policy related to renewable energy and climate change issues in the Sundarbans.
  • Strengthening networking and building collaborations with relevant external stakeholders at the state and national level.
  • Organising workshops/stakeholder meetings, prepare background documents and work with communications specialists to prepare relevant materials for wider dissemination and outreach.
  • Ensuring timely and quality technical and financial reporting for the programme deliverables.
  • Contributing to energy related activities within the Climate and Energy Programme of WWF India.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Required:-

  • Master’s degree in Energy / Renewable Energy / Climate Science / Environmental Science/ or related disciplines, from a recognized university OR  M. Tech. in Energy / Renewable Energy / Environment Engineering / Climate Change or related disciplines, from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the area of Energy/Renewable Energy with a focus on decentralised applications and on-ground field implementation.
  • Experience of working with community-based energy institutions and state level/local stakeholders in the Govt. (such as WBREDA/ Sundarbans Affairs Department) and industry (technology providers) in West Bengal.
  • Knowledge and proven experience of proposal and technical report writing shall be an added advantage.
