Job Posted : Jul 13th, 2023

Job Description

Verisk EES is a leading catastrophe modeler providing risk assessment tools to the insurance and reinsurance companies. Our models simulate occurrences of natural perils over countries and even continents and for thousands of years under the current climate conditions. This is necessary to account for the simultaneous individual damages and the estimate of the aggregate economic losses and their distributions for arbitrary collections of individual properties (portfolios) the number of which usually counts to millions.

Providing flood modeling solutions at such spatial and temporal scales is very unusual and challenging task requiring significant effort, strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics and statistics, and a good set of programming skills. However, your effort will be paid off by a very reasonable salary and excellent benefits and by the fact that hundreds of people will use the result of your work. Your innovative thinking as researcher and model developer will be very highly appreciated and participation in scientific conferences and publications in peer reviewed journals encouraged.

The main responsibility at the Senior Research Engineer position will be to build off the success of our recently released Inland Flood Models for US, Italy, Europe, Canada, UK and Ireland and South Korea and we are expanding into Pan Europe and Southeast Asia.  You will work with meteorologists, climate scientists, engineers, software professionals, statisticians, and actuaries to incorporate the latest flood modeling technologies into cutting-edge flood risk assessment software tools. Your contributions will help provide our clients with tools and data upon which they make informed decisions about flood risk.
