Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Market Development – India, to join the Middle East and Asia Growth & Development team in Wärtsilä Energy Business. Wärtsilä Energy Business is leading the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. Responsibilities:-

  • You will support promoting our engine (especially gas and green gas solutions), battery storage, and hybrid solutions to key stakeholders within the power industry (i.e. developers, investors, utilities, etc.).
  • You will be leading market development and supporting project development activities in India to:
    • Generate future growth by opening up and developing new markets for our technology and services. You will do this by identifying and articulating value propositions to key decision-makers and potential customers to change their technology considerations, long-term resource plans and strategies to enable high penetration of renewables and flexibility in their power systems.
    • Identify customer opportunities and jointly develop feasible projects contributing to Wärtsilä’s order intake.
    • Develop and implement new business models based on Wartsila Energy’s current and future solutions portfolio.

Your role will include:-

  • Set and execute the market development strategy and action plans.
  • Identify niche applications for Battery Storage and Engine solutions for grid Ancillary- and Transmission-Services. Develop these applications into concrete projects.
  • Develop a robust on-the-ground network and continuously interact with key decision-makers, customers, stakeholders, project developers, and funders.
  • Identify project development opportunities that Wärtsilä can initiate or participate in alongside other investors and developers as an investor and equipment supplier.
  • Develop internal relationships to leverage the team output, coordinate and synchronise activities with the sales teams.

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Hold a Master’s degree in Energy, Finance, Business, or similar, and have at least 7 years of working experience in the power industry
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the energy sector, power generation markets and deregulated electricity market design
  • Understand power system and electricity market modelling, and value proposition development
  • Understand the project development cycle of Public utilities, Independent Power Producers and Captive plants. Any hands-on  project development experience with any of these entities will be considered an advantage
  • Have excellent communication, influencing and public speaking skills
  • Have an entrepreneurial attitude, goal-oriented with skills to develop solutions for the clients
  • Excel working and building relationships in multicultural and diverse teams
  • Are a strategic forward-thinker, have a positive mindset and have a proactive way of working.
  • Have an existing network and ability to connect with power generation project developers, independent power producers, investors, financial institutions, utilities, fuel suppliers, regulators and system operators in India.
  • Are persuasive and effective in Value-Based Selling
  • Have an excellent command of spoken and written English.
