Job Description

The Senior Engineering Manager – Grid Integration is a key people leader role in the Electrical Subsystem organization in GE Renewable Energy Onshore Wind. This role will have functional responsibility for regional grid integration teams that support applications and project engineering, and accountability for the overall grid requirements management and grid compliance verification.

Essential Responsibilities:-

  • Lead and set strategic direction for global grid integration team, including three teams centered around Americas, International, and Australia.
  • Define organization strategy and objectives, and hold teams accountable for prioritization centered around Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
  • Drive global consistency for grid system analysis and modeling.
  • Ensure clear requirements are fed from customers and grid authorities back into design process to drive compliant product designs.
  • Develop roadmap/business case for future grid features needs and opportunities
  • Engage with various key standards and grid code committees to stay up-to-date with the latest grid codes.
  • Function as key interface for external customers, grid authorities, and GE Energy Consulting.
  • Apply Lean principles and standard work for grid applications.
  • Drive communication consistency to internal and external customers.
  • Support customer meetings as needed.
  • Perform annual performance reviews and provide regular feedback to team.

Qualifications/Requirements:-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of significant relevant industry work experience and significant experience managing global engineering teams.

Desired Characteristics:-

  • Significant experience in wind turbine grid applications and requirements development.
  • Proven track record of advocacy and adherence to safety and safe working practices.
  • Experience managing an engineering team with direct reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to simplify complex issues for broader internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with ability to motivate and provide positive and candid reinforcement to team.
  • Experience applying Lean principles to solving technical challenges.
  • Knowledge of wind turbines, systems and/or components.
  • Ability to develop strategic vision and follow through.
  • Demonstrated clear thinker with ability to navigate complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.
