Senior Engineer_Dry Utilities

1.   Key Accountabilities:-

Operations:-

• Provide design solutions to civil engineering projects.
• Design HV and LV networks for masterplan, transportation and highway projects
• Carry out load demand calculations for masterplans, public realm and buildings
• Design Street lighting and telecommunications networks
• Design right of way cross sections for all utilities
• Propose off-grid renewable energy solutions including PV solar, battery storage systems etc.
• Produce reports, drawings, calculations and presentations
• Interface with the wider BH infrastructure and MEP teams, architects, masterplanners, stakeholders
• Self starting and take ownership of work
• Represent Buro Happold at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers
• Coordinating his/her work with other members of the project team

Finance & Budgets:-

• Strive to see that service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget

Reporting:-

• Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the company and the client are achieved
• Ensuring all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters

Planning & Organisation:-

• Contribute as appropriate to planning of project work and resourcing planning of the Infrastructure team
• Contribute to the planning of the team’s workload

• Mentor and assist Graduate Engineers

External Stakeholders:-

• Represent Buro Happold at meetings with the clients, other professionals and stakeholders including SEC, Amanahs, DEWA, ADDC

4.  Person Specification:-

Experience Summary:-

Buro Happold is a multidisciplinary practice that succeeds through the individual and collaborative skills of its people. This post requires a candidate who must have:

Essential Experience:-

• Dry utilities – energy, ICT, power, highway design experience
• Working on a one to one basis and in team working situations
• Experience of communicating technical subjects
• Experience in working within a global team

Desirable Experience:-

• Experience of large international multidisciplinary projects
• Good working familiarity with the following:
  • AutoCAD Civils 3D
  • Dialux

Qualifications:-

• Bachelors degree (BEng) in Engineering from a reputed institute.
• Masters degree (MEng) in Engineering plus a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience.

PLUS:-

• Corporate member of relevant institution – Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership

Additional Attributes:-

• Buro Happold are regularly engaged on a significant number of international projects which require occasional attendance in the project country and the offices of our collaborators. An interest and enthusiasm for international travel is therefore desirable
