Job Description

A Senior Individual Contributor applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and/or technical education as well as work experience. Responsibilities may include managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision, and coaching, delegating, and reviewing the work of lower-level employees. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

Responsibilities:-

  • Design Backup solutions for on premise and Cloud environment.
  • Experience in designing backup infrastructure (on premise tool viz. Commvault) and supplementing with cloud storages.
  • Work with vendors to POC new products and enhance capability of existing platforms.
  • Experience in Capacity planning and perform analysis of current landscape of Storage workloads and Storage pools. Defining target/Future state of storage landscape.
  • Identify the data storage, management, protection, disaster recover requirements of the various applications and business systems in use across the core shared infrastructure.
  • Participation in Disaster Recovery infrastructure planning, building, and testing.
  • Confers with and advises peers and IT Infrastructure management on technical problems, priorities, and methods.
  • Experience supporting mission critical data protection solutions is highly desired, leading POCs, developing test plans, working with internal customers on requirements determination.
  • Expert level in enterprise data protection architectures (tape, tapeless, cloud, object storage), concepts (virtualization, archive, deduplication, ), and solutions (CommVault, NetBackup, HPDP, Veeam)
  • Deployment, maintenance and Tier3 support of all infrastructure in scope of the backup team.
  • Documentation control mechanisms to ensure documentation is maintained and kept up to date
  • Assist with planning, testing and providing detailed steps to ensure successful completion of backup hardware and software upgrades and maintenance work
  • Capacity Management of backup systems both on premise and cloud resources
  • Manage and support all hardware upgrade and software changes around their IBM, EMC, VNX, Hitachi, VMware ESX environment.
  • Develop and provide Plan/Build/Operate/Deploy processes for a fully manage desktop strategy.
  • Design, create and configure NFS and SMB shares for Unix / Linux & windows environments.
  • Develop backup and disaster recovery policies and procedures as it pertains to the primary storage infrastructure.
  • Administer NAS and SAN connectivity from storage array to Unix and Linux server clusters.
  • Focus areas include infrastructure consolidation, disaster recovery, performance optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Experience in migration to new Backup tool which is capable of integrating with Cloud backup options

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Experience with systems and IT operations (design, deployment, operation) required
  • Experience with backup software vendors is required (Commvault, HPDP, NetBackup and Veeam is desirable).
    Experience with global public clouds (Azure is a plus).
  • Operating systems knowledge, including Windows and Linux, is required. AIX and Solaris knowledge would be a plus.
  • Experience in handling the enterprise storage systems like EMC, VNX.
  • Knowledge in handling the VxRail Systems
