This is a R&D Senior Engineer role, reporting to the R&D Technical Manager in business area Process Automation located in Bangalore. You will be working at Ability Innovation Center (AIC), home to the largest technology and engineering pool in ABB globally and is a part of ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of ABB. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places research, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.

Responsibilities:-

  • Deliver full life cycle software solutions for embedded industrial communication protocols.
  • Analysis, design, implementation and testing for new product development, maintenance and handling of customer cases for existing products.
  • Trouble shoot issues and provide technical support for other development and test teams.
  • Coordinate & collaborate with other technical development & test teams spread across in a global collaborative environment for timely approvals for deliverables, testing and to meet project milestones.
  • Process oriented and should be well versed with ISO/CMM quality procedures.
  • Exposure to working in agile scrum-based development with continuous integration mode will be an advantage.
  • Integration and system testing, test systems set up, test automation and defect prevention, building test scripts, exposure on tools used for test automation.
  • work on safety critical applications and exposure to development of software that warrants adherence to functional safety.

Requirements:-

  • B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science or Electrical or Electronics from a reputed institution.
  • Required 8 to 12 years of experience in architecture, design & development of new products, feature enhancements and maintenance.
  • Hands on experience in design / architecture for embedded control systems – firmware and applications using object-oriented concepts.
  • Hands on experience – C, Strong in C++, UML, RTOS – VxWorks, TCP/IP and network protocols.
  • Hands on experience in development and testing of communication protocols stacks, product certifications for compliance with standards.
  • Ability to understand the protocol standards and convert them into software design and implementation for embedded control systems.
  • Should have testing, test tools like Lauterbach, ICE, Trace32, Test complete, Enterprise Architect etc. along with Static code analysis, tools like PCLint, Klocwork, Parasoft, Coverity.
  • Hands on experience on using configuration management tools – TFS. Knowledge on activities like branching, baselines, code and design reviews process.
