Job Description

Appointed by and reporting to the Project Principal, the Project Manager leads the project team and is responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered successfully for the client and for Mott MacDonald, technically, commercially and financially. This key role is critical to our ongoing success. The Project Manager selects team members along with the Resource Manager and develops and coaches as necessary to maintain the performance of the project.

Key Accountabilities:-

  • Project Managers are accountable for the successful delivery of one or several projects. Successful delivery means customer satisfaction, commercial, financial, technical delivery according to the PPW, budget and commercial terms agreed with the client in WIN. Broken down it means:
  • Accountable for successful hand-over from WIN to DO. This means active involvement in selecting and briefing a project team,
    assessing risk, preparing a project budget and initial PPW.
  • Accountable for successful management of the client relationship.
    This means regular reporting, managing communication channels, issue management, managing feedback, managing scope change and client expectations.
  • Accountable for delivering a fit-for-purpose technical solution as agreed with the client in WIN or in subsequent variations. This means instigating peer review, selecting suitable team members, assessing, developing capabilities and/or removing unsuitable team members
  • Accountable for fully complying with STEP and other BMS requirements, for management of Ethics and H&S on the project. This means raising risks to project success with the Project Principal, using available tools and processes, managing project budget and forecasts through Business Connect (PMD), reporting, billing and collecting cash, ensuring fit-for-purpose record-keeping
  • Accountable for Health, Safety and Welfare on the project. This means working to Mott MacDonald’s global standards, assessing risk, applying mitigations, and viewing Health Safety and Welfare alongside project commercials and risk.
  • Project conceptualization and Start-up. Prepare strategic plan to execute projects
  • Establish clear scope and prepare project inception report, create, own and perform complying budget. Assimilation and dissimilation of design brief and project information
  • General familiarization with Statutory norms, by-laws, rules, and regulations. Awareness for FM Global standards, LEED / Green certification, Vastu, generally encountered in new Industrial projects
  • Managing internal interactions and meetings with all engineering disciplines, meetings with client, suppliers, vendors and contractors. Monitoring resources, quality of delivery, day to day coordination and management with project internal and external stake holders
  • Develop system for adequate inter-discipline coordination, quality assurance, deliverable management, and progress tracking, etc.
  • Manage project reporting covering progress, gray areas, forward plan, and recommendations for catch plans, reviews and audits, contract, conflicts, and changes. Prepare and regularly update risk register with mitigation plans
  • Supplement business development activities by way of participating for bid processes and preparing documentations, effort estimation, presentation and discussions, understanding contracts and closing the deal, etc.

Candidate Specification:-

  • Qualified graduate in B.E. / B. Tech – Chemical / Civil. Ideal candidates who have MBA or post-graduation in construction management or any project management qualifications would be preferred.
  • Experience in managing industrial projects is essential.
  • Having professional qualifications for Project Management (PMP or equivalent) from reputed
