Process Safety Engineer – Engineer / Sr. Engineer / Principal Lead

In day-to-day work, the HSE Design Engineer / specialist will work as HSE Design Engineer, being responsible for the correct execution of the scope of activities related to Process design safety and engineering on assigned project(s) during proposal / conceptual / engineering / design phase. These include preparation of overall HSE Design philosophy, conceptual / detailed design of HSE systems (active and passive fire protection, area classification, fire and gas detection system design) and integration in overall plant design, coordination/preparation of HSE related documents, facilitation of HSE reviews, execution of HSE studies and monitoring and verification of implementation of study results in the overall plant design.

Furthermore, the HSE Design Engineer / specialist is expected to take a role in the technical development of the HSE Design department. The HSE Design Engineer / specialist will report to the Senior HSE Design Engineer / Lead HSE Design Engineer / HSE Design Department Manager.

Your Responsibilities:-

• Manages the coordination of HSED engineering activities with other disciplines in proposals/ studies / projects with a scope
• Assuming overall responsibility for the quality of the final HSE Design and engineering deliverables;
• Provides technical and general supervision to direct reports / pears through interpretation of company HSE practices and procedures in relation to current legislation and regulations; plans and develops HSE practices and procedures concerned with unique or project-specific issues;
• Provides mentoring/people development, developing future talent through coaching and training;
• Building and maintaining client relationships.
• Continues education and knowledge of industry-wide HSE-related information and technologies as well as new regulations and trends;
• Stays current/ updated with technical developments in area of specialty through continuing education, conferences and continues to develop in-depth specialization
• Participates in Technip University / KM Portal for training and career development;

Qualification And Experience:-

• B.E or M.E in Chemical Engineering with 3 – 15 years of working experience in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry. Onshore / Offshore design experience is considered valuable.
• Project design execution experience with an engineering and construction firm during design engineering phases of a capital projects
• Strong interpersonal skills, good technical writing skills and good communication skills are a must.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:-

• Must be capable to prepare and deliver the following “Basic LP deliverables” such as :‐
  • HAC Philosophy & schedule preparation based on NFPA, IEC, IS, IP & OISD
  • HAC Drawing preparation for regulatory approval requirement like PESO, PE, OISD etc.
  • Design Safety / Active Fire Protection / Passive Fire Protection / Fire & Gas Detection Philosophy development
  • Fire water / Foam demand calculation
  • Fire Water system design as per Indian and International stds
  • Experience in Sizing calculation of Flooded Firefighting system like Inert gas/CO2/Water mist etc
  • Independently work on PIPENET for Fire water network, spray and sprinkler modelling, result
• interpretation & recommendation
  • Fire water / Foam system PFD, P&ID, Datasheet & specification preparation ‐ offshore /onshore
  • Experience in Fire protection system design for Switch Gear room, Analyzer house, Ware house & occupied building etc.
  • Fire & Gas detector selection, layout, datasheet & specification preparation
  • 2D / 3D F&G detector coverage study, review & recommendation
  • F&G, Fire water system Cause & Effect Preparation
  • TBE/Vendor document review for Clean agent /DV/AFFF
• Prepare, Coordinate with Designer/other Disciplines, Issue & resolve client comments of following Safety Layouts: ire Zone Layout
  • Emergency Response, Life Saving & Safety Equipment Layout
  • Safety Sign Layout
  • PFP Layout
  • HAC Layout
  • F&G Detector Layout
  • Active Fire Protection Layout
  • Building Safety Layouts
  • Building F&G Detector Layouts

Safety studies:-

• Basic knowledge in QRA/FRA/FHA/EERA/ESSA/Noise contour and shall be able to interpret the results / recommendations to HSED deliverables.
