Job Description

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is a member of Rotron’s Engineering team.  The Sr. Engineer is responsible for providing technical guidance and support supporting FEA and CFD analysis.  This includes detailed design research on numerous active projects concurrently.  The Sr. Engineer will be responsible for managing a mechanical designer in fully documenting detailed mechanical assemblies.  The Sr. Engineering Analyst will conduct engineering studies, analysis, providing detailed FEA and CFD analysis and reports on a weekly basis.  These reports will be presented to the mechanical and aerodynamic team in Woodstock.  The Sr, Engineering analyst will provide technical recommendations on structural and aerodynamic changes to improve performance, and to meet product specifications within cost and scheduling constraints.

Supervisory Responsibilities:-

The Sr, Engineering Analyst manages their local mechanical designers’ schedules and objectives.  This responsibility also includes defining their daily priorities, and assessing their level of performance while providing continuous guidance and support

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Specify Mechanical design solutions for our overall system control architecture as required
  • Specify design solutions that enhance products performance ensuring they meet specified requirements
  • Communicate and present technical presentations to the Rotron engineering team on a weekly basis
  • Provide technical guidance on planning and executing project assignments
  • Collaborate with vendors to produce custom mechanical assemblies as required
  • Responsible for design/development activities which include:
  • Concept, planning, design, and implementation phases
  • Provided detailed designs with supporting FEA and CFD analysis as required
  • Track design configuration and corresponding performance for iterative design evolution
  • Prototype and testing support for locally developed and fabricated assemblies
  • Design review support for (TIM, PDR, CDR, TRR)
  • Support verification, validation & qualification testing.  Including managing local testing activities.

Education and Experience:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Aerodynamic, Masters preferred
  • 5 + years’ progressively responsible experience in an engineering environment
  • Leadership skills to influence the actions and opinions of others regarding technical solutions
  • Excellent verbal & written communications – Ability to clearly present complex information
  • Effective at persuading others through concise logically sound presentations
  • Strong computer skills including:
  • ANSYS analysis software experience
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, etc.
  • SolidWorks advanced 2D drawings and 3D modelling experience
