Job Description

Atlas Material Testing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join our team in India. In this role you will be responsible for developing creative solutions in the design, and development, and sustaining engineering for our new and existing accelerated weathering product portfolio. The Mechanical Engineer II will possess solid technical mechanical engineering abilities, project management abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work.

Responsibilities:-

  • Maintaining 3D models and 2D engineering documentation and bills of materials using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Assists with Engineering Change Order (ECO) procedure. Reviews Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Communicates engineering changes and implementation plan to other departments.
  • Maintains item master, bill of materials, and configurator information in Exact ERP system.
  • Supports Quality Management System by resolving Corrective Action Reports (CARs)
  • Assists with maintaining product safety compliance certifications.
  • Works on new product development (NPD) projects and supports regular design reviews and status updates to project stakeholders and the Atlas Leadership team.
  • May assist with developing NPD project scope, budget, timelines, work breakdown structure, list of requirements, and other NPD project plan items.
  • Applies Lean principles and Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, and Serviceability strategies in development
  • Conducts root-cause analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.
  • Develops and conducts test procedures. Records, analyzes, and presents data and findings. Determines if designs meet functional and performance requirements. Generates and presents final test reports.
  • Conducts thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and stress analysis studies.
  • Helps develop user operational and service procedures and associated instruction manuals.
  • Assists with product safety compliance certification of new products.
  • Builds or guides the building and testing of prototypes.
  • Develops assembly procedures and provides guidance and trains production personnel in the manufacturing of new products.
  • Provides technical information concerning manufacturing techniques and material properties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Experience:-

  • Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET/AEC accredited program.
  • Minimum Years of Work Experience: 2

Knowledge/Skills:-

  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to write reports, procedure manuals and other related business correspondences. Must be skilled at communicating with other business functions within the organization, customers, and suppliers.
  • Good prioritization and organization skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Experience with new production development projects using Phase-Gate and Agile methodologies.
  • Must excel working in cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
  • Experience designing machined components in metal and plastic and associated fabrication techniques and best practices.
  • Experience designing sheet metal components and weldments and associated fabrication techniques and best practices.
  • Must have 3D modeling and 2D drafting capabilities with experience creating engineering specification drawings for parts, assemblies, and weldments in Autodesk Inventor software.
  • Experience with applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009
  • Experience with applying weld symbols to engineering specifications in accordance with ANSI/AWS A2.4-2012.
  • Experience certifying products with third-party compliance agencies such as UL or TUV.
  • Able to conduct thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and stress analysis studies.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulation software.  Autodesk Simulation preferred
  • Experience working with domestic and foreign suppliers.
  • Must have extensive hands-on experience building prototypes and familiarity with various rapid-prototyping technologies.
  • Must be familiar with CE Requirements, IEC61010, and Annex I of 2006/42/EC the: “Essential health and safety requirements relating to the design and construction of machinery”.
  • Must be able to present examples of previous work at interview
