Job Description

  • Managing Computer Aid Designer (CAD), activities and deliverables on an area in one Electrical or Mechanical Domain on
    project in compliance with QCD commitments.
  • Applying applicableMechanical Domain instructions, processes & tools

Organisation Reporting:-

  • Hierarchical Reporting.  Mechanical Lead Engineer Fittings & Integration (MFI)
  • Functional Reporting: Train Design Engineer (TDE)

Network & Links:-

  • Engineering Design Team (other MLEs, DLEs…). TSS, Validation team, Costing Team…
  • Project: Project Engineering Manager (PrEM), Industrial Lead Engineer (ILE9, Project Sourcing Manger (PrSM), Project Planning Manager (PrPM), ILS Manager
  • Site: Sourcing Department (Buyers), Indus Department, Manufacturing, Quality Department, etc…
  • Participating Units & CoE: Mechanical lead Engineers (MLE) counterparts on the corresponding project(s)/program/(s)
  • External Interface: Customers, Suppliers, Subcontractors

Performance Measurement/KPI’s:-

  • Closure of open points or escalation: 10 days maximum
  • Compliance to Engineering Work Package (variation orders excluded) :100%
  • Quality of his delivery (included sub-contractor delivery): 1st time quality rate>90% (quality rate=modification validated OK/number of modification applied)
  • Respect of the delivery planning  (included sub-contractor delivery): =100& on time delivery
  • Application level of standard PPL =100%
  • Configuration management of his deliverables = 100% of deliverables properly managed into configuration database.
  • Respect of Cost allocation.
  • Technical mentoring to the team member

Responsibilities:-

Accountable for:-

  • Performing project Mechanical Domain activities in compliance with QDC commitments.
  • Planning and piloting Mechanical Domain activities and related deliverables on project taking into account applicable instructions/processes and other specific Customer (internal or external) requirements.
  • Ensuring Mechanical Domain deliverables quality and their acceptance by the Customer (internal or external) within committed limits.
  • Reporting on Mechanical Domain activities progress and alerting relevant N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting achievement of QCD commitments.
  • Defining requirements and mechanical interfaces to equipment (Allocate volume, weight, location 3PL, etc.).
  • Monitoring assigned Mechanical Sub-Systems deliveries conformity with project needs.
  • Checking availability on time of work package input data and escalate if necessary.
  • Checking supplier’s and sub-contractor’s Design Quality.
  • Competency Improvement of the team member

Responsible for:-

  • Planning and piloting Mechanical Domain activities and related deliverables on project taking into account applicable instructions/processes and other specific Customer (internal or external) requirements.
  • Applying TD rules, processes and tools (single-domain) and ensuring Mechanical Domain deliverables quality and their acceptance by the Customer (internal or external) within committed limits.
  • Managing production of deliverables in accordance with planning targets on Mechanical Domain assigned work packages.
  • Designing products taking into account project requirements (performances, manufacturability, serviceability, testability, etc.).
  • Preparing and documenting Mechanical Domain Design Reviews according to project schedule and following-up the main open actions.
  • Checking respect of Allocated volumes/interfaces (no-clashes) on internal design.
  • Resolving Project Mechanical issues and following challenging actions (single domain)
  • Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on Project Mechanical Domain scope.
  • Reporting on Mechanical Domain activities progress, anticipating issues (capacity, skills, rule applicability, etc.,) and alerting if needed.
  • Respecting and/or allocating requirements and mechanical interfaces to Sub-System equipment (Allocated, volume, weight, location, 3PL, etc.).
  • Coordinating Mechanical Domain contributors on Project.
  • Analysing and consolidating change request impacts on Mechanical Domain scope.
  • Producing Mechanical Domain deliverables (RSAD L2, Validation Plan, etc.,).
  • Validating relevant Mechanical Domain deliverables and securing planning.
  • Verifying design via mock-ups or simulations.

Contributor for:-

  • Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on Project Mechanical (multi-domains)
  • Perform quotation of engineering work package, upon request.
  • Defining Project Mechanical Decomposition (PBS)
  • Defining Mechanical Project/Product Preferred Part List (3Pl) delivery.
  • Supporting Sourcing, Industrialization and Manufacturing teams during Production ramp-up.
  • Collaborating with MDL for continuous improvement of the Domain (including RoE)
  • Defining Mechanical Domain architecture taking into account weight, gauge, installation strategy, acoustics, eco design, ergonomics, aerodynamics, aeraulics
  • Establishing Certification & Validation Plans for TD scope.

Knowledge & Experience:-

  • Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products with  minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience with total experience of more than 8 years
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer).
  • Time management and reporting skill.
  • Sense of urgency/priority.
