Job Description

In this highly visible site leadership position the manager must run the overall site Quality function in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This is a growth opportunity ensuring corporate quality and reliability objectives are met from site start up to mature production. Responsibilities include the overall development, implementation and sustaining of the plant quality operations and management system.

Essential Responsibilities:-                                                                                                           

  • Manage a group of associates (Supervisors, Lab Technicians and Engineers) supporting the plant operation towards achieving the highest quality product and meeting customers’ expectations.
  • Drive detection and continuous improvement of manufacturing/product Quality & Reliability.
  • Interface with customers and certification bodies during external audits and visits to the site.
  • Accountable and responsible in developing and managing the expense and capital budget of the site Q&R organization.
  • Ensure efficient and timely lab operations and data quality.
  • Responsible to implement and monitor product quality specifications in accordance with Company Policy and ISO standards.
  • Ensure compliance (through internal audit and other means) to applicable product/manufacturing standards.
  • Identify quality issues and drive corrective/preventive actions ensuring proper non-conforming product disposition.
  • Collaborate with global Quality and Reliability teams ensuring alignment of all functional areas.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.
  • As the Q&R management representative in the Site leadership team. Support all the site driven initiatives.

 Reporting Relationships:-                                                                                                           

  • Manager will have 4 direct reports (2 Quality Engineers, 1 Operations Superintendent, and 1 Supplier Quality Engineer).
  • Manager will have 8 indirect reports (Quality Technicians)
  • Subject to change at any time (Manager’s & Management’s discretion)

 Travel:-                                                                                                           

  • 0 to 20% travel required
  • Up to 50% travel required in the first 4-6 months for training purposes

 Physical Requirements: –

Project Site (non-craft) Requirements:-

  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
  • Will lift, push, or pull up to ## Kg on an occasional basis
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)

Education:-                                                                                                          

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline.
  • Materials/Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Quality Engineer/Manager certification preferred.

Experience:-                                                                                                          

  • 10 or more years of manufacturing experience
  • 5 or more years of manufacturing experience in Quality
  • 2 or more years of Management Experience
  • Semiconductor or Solar experience preferred

 Required Skills/Competencies:-                                                                                                          

  • Proven ability to recruit and lead a diverse team of supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
  • Experienced and comfortable in influencing and making difficult, yet data-based decisions.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, in global environment.
  • Business fluency in English and Vietnamese, spoken and written, is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (both internal and customer interface).
  • Knowledge in analytics, failure analysis and structured problem-solving utilizing Quality and Continuous Improvement tools (7-Step, 8D, Why-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, FMEA, Control plan, SPC, etc.).
  • Familiar with Quality Management System (Document Control, Change Management, Non-Conformance Product, Preventive and Corrective Action Request, Internal Audit) and metrology calibration.
  • Familiar with Industry certification standards and procedures (ISO 9001, IEC, and UL) desired.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
