Job Description

Major responsibilities includes :

  • Establish an HSE program within the region under the global guidelines.
  • Participate in internal and external customer discussions on HSE.
  • Participate in developing a good safety culture.
  • Work with the Services management to ensure that all our customer safety requirements are reached.
  • Understand customer requirements and can offer solutions that produce the most appropriate result for the customer and Valmet Flow Control business line operations India.
  • Help internal customers understand current issues and needs and keep them abreast of current policies and programs. Maintain positive customer relations.
  • Ensure full compliance with current legislation affecting safety, health and the environment.
  • Prepare reports that detail current HSE activity.
  • Ability to achieve short/long term goals for services
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively express ideas in individual or group situations (including non-verbal communication) and fully able to adjust to the needs and characteristics of the audience.
  • Investigate report, follow up and maintain all necessary paperwork for all accidents/incidents.
  • Design and implement appropriate preventative procedures to minimize risk to all employees.
  • To ensure compliance with HSE standards and updating of the on-site procedures.
  • Takes part in drawing up and updating on-site procedures, in some cases using the support of specialists.
  • Conduct regular audits.
  • Update the emergency plan and prepare regular safety exercises.
  • Regularly evaluate contractors and suppliers from the point of view of safety, health and the environment.
  • Analyses operational risks prior to work commencing.
  • Analyses all accidents and incidents to work towards a zero-harm culture.
  • Manage permits to work, non-compliances, statistics, and safety indications.
  • Authorized to lead HSE activities towards agreed programs, plans, objectives and within guidelines, as established by Corporate, and the Business Lines

Qualifications & Experience:-

  • B.E (Mechanical) with 12 – 14 years of Experience in HSE
  • Previous management experience in safety, engineering or large machinery related industry is preferred.
  • Previous experience with HSE work within the industry preferred.

Skills And Abilities:-

  • Capabilities to provide direction and motivation.
  • Good understanding of written & verbal English language.
  • Strong leadership, development and relationship building skills.
  • Proven communications skills and understanding of customer needs.
  • Knowledge of HSE development and trends.
  • A good level of computer skills is essential – MS Office
  • Highly motivated focused individual.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful HSE strategies.
  • Strong, co-operation, interpersonal skills to manage internal and external issues.
  • Ability to travel.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally engage in manual handling activities.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use keyboards, telephones, copiers, etc.
  • Requires the ability to stand, walk, climb and/or utilize a sense of balance.  Climbing of stairs, ladders, scaffolds may be required at customer facilities.
