Job Description

  • Litigation Specialist would work closely with various business units and other functions on a broad range of legal matters. This will include managing all range of litigations, pre-litigations matters including dealing with Government officials, Police, and filing criminal complaints, FIRs etc.
  • Candidate should be capable of exercising independent judgment and management of reasonably complex legal issues and litigations.
  • Candidate should have some experience in drafting notices, replies and pleadings.
  • Candidate should be open to travelling across the Country on short notices.

Responsibilities & Authorities:-

1. Managing Litigations:-

  • Candidate would be required to manage various litigations of the Company including litigation with respect to EPC projects and criminal cases.
  • The Candidate would be required to file new cases, defend cases in various Courts, Tribunals and Fora after collating, reviewing the documents received from the concerned BUs.
  • The Candidate should have thorough understanding of the law points involved in each case and should know facts of each case well, attend Courts as and when required.
  • The Candidate would also be required to brief the Management on the cases, their positions, further strategies, etc.
  • The Candidate would be required to hold regular review of pre-litigation, post litigation cases with various stakeholders.
  • Maintaining MIS of the pre and post litigation cases.

2. Drafting/Vetting Notices, Pleadings, Communications:-

  • The Candidate would be required to draft replies/communications, notices etc.
  • The Candidate would be required to vet the drafts received from the external counsels and finalize the same.

3. Advisory:-

  • Candidate would be expected to provide pragmatic and result oriented advisories to the Projects, business teams and other functions on wide array of pre-litigation and post litigation matters.
  • The Candidate is required to give advice, road maps, etc., which will help the company in risk mitigation.
  • Candidate should be updated with the latest developments, amendments in various laws.

4. Briefing, Liasoning with external counsels:-

  • The Candidate would be required to brief the external counsels with respect to various cases and address all their queries pertaining to the cases.
  • The Candidate should be able to prepare synopsis of cases to help the external counsels understand the matter.
  • The candidate would be required to coordinate with the lawyers for updates and other required actions with respect to the matters.

5. Other Legal and administrative responsibilities as are typically required in a litigation role. 

Qualification:-

  • Essential: LLB from a good college.

Experience:-

  • The Candidate should have 5 (Five) to 8 (Eight) years’ of post qualification experience in Litigation Management with good past experience in practice or in-house managing on ground criminal matters, etc.

Other Requirements:-

  • The Candidate should have good understanding of law along with drafting and research skills.
  • The Candidate should have Proficiency in Hindi, English, should be a team player. She/He should be able to perform under pressure.
  • Candidate should have a solution finding approach and eye for detail.

Functional Knowledge & Skills:-

  • Apart from legal knowledge the Candidate should also know how to work on MS Word, MS Excel, PPT.
