Job Description

As a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer, you will take ownership for quality and continuous improvement across a range of suppliers. You will build relationships with internal teams, suppliers to ensure successful delivery . You will ensure supplier quality to global standards and lead continuous improvement where there are performance issues.

As a Lead Sourcing Specialist  – Supplier Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for:-

  • Managing New Supplier Evaluation / on boarding: Rigorously execute supplier evaluation process including quality & compliance audits/assessments to ensure that only appropriately qualified suppliers are taken through the process.
  • Working with sourcing/commodity team to meet business objectives of new supplier addition, mainly for Raw material (Steel mills, distributor qualifications, elastomers, plastics) and Machining (Forged & casted parts, low & high complex, long jobs).
  • Managing production part approvals: Have a sound understanding of the following: Drawings, specifications, Manufacturing Process, Applicable tools (FMEA, GR&R, Control plans, Sampling, Capability studies, etc.).
  • Understanding & use tools rigorously to mitigate risk from shipping non-compliant parts. Train & drive suppliers to use our tools & upload objective evidence for RCA closure.
  • Working closely with Engineering team to ensure adequate understanding of product risks & severities of failure. Lead robust root cause analysis & corrective actions as required.

  • Problem-solving: Monitor Defects/DMRs’/Feedback for suppliers to identify any existing problems Use DMAIC methodology / RCA to identify & eliminate root cause sustainably on appropriate system. Experienced with Six Sigma (Design /DMAIC / Lean) implementation
  • Participating in planning of supplier quality activities, share knowledge with team, training, etc.
  • Being responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, improving quality performance via facilitating continuous process improvements at supplier facility
  • Driving improvements utilizing Supplier Scorecards and own Supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, and driving improvement plans
  • Developing positive relationships with all stakeholders (Sourcing, Engineering, GCLs, Manufacturing) to manage and implement Engineering changes, New Product Introductions (NPIs) and Line Transfers
  • Specifying, develop, and accept advanced technology, quality information and test equipment
  • Providing Quality Engineering expertise requiring advanced/specialized skills and a broad range of quality engineering expertise

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Have ability to manage multiple qualifications and work with global teams to approve/qualify suppliers and improve their performance.

  • Possess ability to understand and establish appropriate inspection/measurement system based on the technical specification and functional characteristics.

  • Possess ability to prepare manufacturing process plan (MPP) for machining, by selecting process steps, suitable machines, conducting FMEA and preparing control plans
  • Have basic knowledge about castings, Forgings processes /materials, fabrication (welding, cladding, hot metal), selection of tools & Fixtures and Sheet metal parts
