Lead Engineer - Product Design

• Independently lead end-to-end new products design project for industrial lighting product line i.e., from technical requirement mapping to product launch
• Provide technical leadership for following engineering deliverables during development phase:
  • Generate new creative ideas & design concepts, Idea verification by analytical calculations, sketches, 3D modelling, etc.
  • Convert ideas/concepts into workable models/proof of concepts and validate the designs through prototyping, testing and analysis
  • Prepare detail designs, drawings, manufacturability and Bill of materials
  • Successful industrialization (from detail design to production readiness) of new products
• Prepare and review technical writeups for bought out parts/systems
• Ensure design for product compliance as per international electromechanical standards (IEC, NEC, etc)
• Proactively conduct and coordinate product and system design reviews
• Work with multi-domain cross teams e.g., simulation, electronics, firmware, certification, testing, etc to execute NPD projects together
• Work with cross functions – marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to review the designs, update status and meet the project objectives
• Communicate with supplier/vendors to discuss technical aspects of component developments
• Visit domestic and international suppliers or manufacturing locations based on need for approvals, product builds, project discussions, etc
• Ensure adherence to quality processes and support monthly quality metrics.
• Protect Intellectual property by filing invention disclosures, patents, and trade secrets
• Work with team leader/project manager for project planning, resource utilization and progress review
• Manage project team of 3 - 5 engineers, assign task & review day-to-day work
• Participate in project communication with local and global teams

Qualification And Experience:-

• BE/B. Tech ME/ M. Tech Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Min. 10 + years of experience in electromechanical industrial product design and development
• Experience of working in global engineering environment
• Candidate must have sound experience of plastic, castings, Sheetmetal parts design, product validation & getting manufactured
• Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision
• Undertakes work in an efficient and timely manner
• A willingness to learn is critical
• Experience of lighting product design,
• Knowledge of international certification standards like UL, CSA & IEC is an added advantage
• Knowledge about Creo 3.0 & AutoCAD softwares for 3D modelling and drawings.
