The vision of the Tuning and Operations team is to support in developing winning LCOE wind turbine products for all markets, leveraging advanced multibody dynamics simulation capabilities, system dynamics analysis and system optimization through controller tuning, while keeping high-standards on quality and on time delivery.

The role of the Lead Operability engineer includes driving control tuning optimization for reliable, high performance and low LCOE wind turbines products, adhering to market compliance and supporting segment simulation teams by providing control tuning guidance.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Drive control tuning for AEP vs Loads trade-off optimization, whilst ensuring control stability and availability, including market requirements like Grid codes, NRO, CWE etc
  • Identify gaps in controls algorithms and adopt new Controller features and algorithms developed by the Controls COE and tune them to meet Operability and Grid requirements for different Products.
  • Be skilled on Operability and integrate with other sub system teams to ensure quality products that meet the LCOE targets.
  • Work with senior engineer and CTH to support requirements definitions for new controller strategies to optimize Loads, AEP and stability of the turbine, whilst meeting the Grid codes for the required markets.
  • Liaison with PMO and Controls team on prototype and farm level validation for simulations and/or co-simulations in Flex and/or Simpack to reproduce turbine behavior during events like NPP, LVRT etc and optimize these.
  • Take lessons learnt from fleet issues into design space.
  • Support Operability tuning and grid related projects from ITO/OTR/SVO
  • Support team members and drive projects that are challenging, while managing conflicting priorities.
