Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:-

As Lead Engineer in the Metals and Components team, you will be part of the Materials Engineering department at LM. The department is part of the LM Engineering & Technology organization. You will be having a small team reporting to You and You will have a close cooperation with the team designing lightning protection systems and ice mitigation systems for our blades and you will be responsible for delivering the material solutions

  • You will lead the work on the development of metal materials solutions related to lightning protection systems and ice mitigation systems as well as for other metal components in our blades. Your internal customers will be the teams developing new technology for our blades, Sourcing, Supplier Quality and our blade manufacturing plants. You will do the work together with the team being responsible for developing the solutions and in close cooperation with our Supplier Quality and Sourcing department
  • You are expected to have a proactive involvement with sourcing on identifying improved solutions
  • You will be responsible for driving the cooperation with suppliers on the development of solutions related to metal materials, you will challenge them on proposed solutions, and you will be tapping into their resources and knowledge
  • You will be responsible for new material solutions until they work well in our plants
  • You will be leading and developing the Metal and Components team
    • Your goal is to deliver according to the Materials Engineering Roadmap and the needs of the organization
    • You will be responsible for the development of the competencies needed within your team

Qualifications And Experience:-

  • You have an educational background within Mechanical Engineering at Masters/PhD Level with 7+ years of experience
  • You have knowledge at expert level within the area of metals
    • Steel types, alloys, hardening and metals in general
    • Joining techniques, design of bolted joints, welding etc
    • cables for electrical components
    • Manufacturing methods for metallic components
    • Surface coating, corrosion protection
  • Test and validation of materials and components
  • You have experience with the APQP process
  • You have experience with partnering with suppliers
  • It is an advantage if you have experience with the cooperation with global suppliers
  • You have basic experience within CAD-design
  • It is an advantage if you have experience with high voltage electrical components
  • Maybe you have been working at a blade manufacturer or at a company making other large-scale components in composites or you have been working at one of the resin manufacturers suppling the wind industry
  • You have knowledge at expert level within the area of metals
  • You know about the principles of APQP for wind
