Job Description

You will contribute to the design and development of STATCOM and SVC products, solutions and systems. Main focus of the position is in the mechanical, structural and layout design of STATCOM and SVC delivery projects. This Position is based in Noida, India.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Convert project contractual documents into plant engineering requirements
  • Define and/or control plant engineering planning for the project ensuring on-time delivery
  • Release plant engineering deliverables as per project planning & cost without non-conformity
  • Lead the plant engineers for the assigned project(s) (functional reports)
  • Lead the design optimized substation & buildings layouts integrating all the required equipment considering their installation, operation, and maintenance constraints
  • Interface with other disciplines
  • Answer to client, partners & suppliers technical queries related to plant engineering
  • Organize and perform projects design/gate reviews related to plant engineering & support other disciplines’ ones when required.
  • Lead change control impacting plant engineering deliverables & activities
  • Support continuous improvement within plant engineering discipline
  • Perform Noise Studies
  • Spec writing for FACTS Components
  • Supplier Documentation Review
  • Execute the 3D and 2D layout design of the STATCOM/SVC systems.
  • Create detailed 2D installation drawings and instructions for STATCOM/SVC delivery projects
  • Design support steel structures for STATCOM/SVC Medium voltage equipment
  • Perform thermal and short circuit force calculation for rigid busbars and flexible conductors according to international standards (IEC / IEEE)
  • Support installation team locally or remotely considering mechanical aspects
  • Participate in the delivery project specific mechanical design of the power electronics valves related to SVC & STATCOM systems
  • Support tender team regarding layout, mechanical and structural design
  • Defining the physical configuration optimized to convert mechanical inputs that develops an electrical system energized to produce electricity.
    Addressing the configuration of electrical apparatus and systems, especially of main generators, of power electronics devices, switchgear, transformers, bus bars, cables, non-conducting materials and comprehensive system integration concepts.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications:-

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Electrical Component. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in USA – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
