Job Description

Tower Value Engineering department is responsible for providing optimized tower solution to Vestas tower program. The tasks range from understanding the design requirement and requirement specification, designing tower using analytical and FEM calculations, designing tower components, performing DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation.

Tower value engineering is extension of global tower module. The department is responsible for provide customized tower solution for sales order, design modification for local market and to provide innovative design solution for life extension of recognized turbine tower along with fulfilling certification need.

Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Additionally, process efficiency and supervise time reduction is of key importance in order to fulfill Vestas’s overall aspirations of delivering products, which are configured to customer needs in a timely manner. The team is located in Chennai, India.

Responsibilities:-

  • Gather and understand project requirement
  • Prioritize the technical team’s tasks based on the calculated impact to project targets
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks within the project scope
  • Secure technical policy making to secure progress in the projects and supervise technical reviews
  • Supervise and align project issues with stakeholders
  • Deliver tower structural calculations/ FEA and assist in developing/optimize designs and processes
  • Deliver the technical solution within quality, time and cost targets of the project
  • Provide feedback and question design solutions to interfacing systems in order to optimize product design

Qualifications:-

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in , Mechanical or Civil Engineering (structural)
  • Minimum Professional experience: 7-9years
  • Experience in the design of turbine or for example diligently loaded structures
  • Technical leadership & Project leadership skills (technical project management)

Competencies:-

  • Solid fundamental and innovative mindset (research paper, patents etc)
  • Technical leadership and understanding the business and full value chain
  • Exposure to technical project management
  • Experience in solving field issue and providing solution in vibration and structural issues
  • Proficient in linear, nonlinear, fatigue, contact, vibration analysis using FEA
  • Knowledge on Bolted and Welded Connections, Fatigue analysis, Fracture Mechanics, Buckling Analysis
  • Have good communication skills to convey complex problems to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Have good problem-solving skills and be able to supervise sub-projects and be able to meet deadlines
  • Be process oriented and have a structured way to work
