Job Description

Responsible for providing technical guidance to design and project execution teams on concepts, value engineering and best practices that apply to design delivery of facilities that will produce blue or green hydrogen. Shall bring to bear profound knowledge of available technologies, technology advancements around the globe, equipment, systems and hardware offerings that are state-of-the-art. Must be familiar with the complete value chain from specification, design, procurement, erection and commissioning to downstream integration with end users in emerging sectors of hydrogen economy. Key focus areas include end-use applications of hydrogen in industry and transport. Will engage externally with clients and technology providers in tandem with Bechtel’s global teams to ideate, resolve and implement solutions specific to a given project.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:-

  • Help organization stay abreast of the market, competitors, technologies, and latest innovations related to Hydrogen including blue/green hydrogen, fuel cell systems, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen derived de-fossilized fuels and where market direction may take future adoption or related technologies. Associated technologies could include use of green ammonia, green methanol and blending of hydrogen in gas networks.
  • Be seen both externally and internally as a Bechtel figurehead for hydrogen related thought leadership, expertise, and capability.
  • Work with business unit technical teams (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) to clarify technology and capability requirements for specific opportunities and support development & execution of plans.
  • Act as a focal point for information, initiatives & coordination on all things Hydrogen to promote knowledge sharing and coordination between Bechtel teams.
  • Manage and develop team knowledge on current and innovative Hydrogen technologies and application to requirements.
  • Lead and participate in capacity building activities including workshop facilitation and presentation delivery and learning & development.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:-

  • Proficient in design and project erection and commissioning in hydrogen related industry.
  • Knowledge of global industry standards related to safety in design of hydrogen production, handling and transportation facilities.
  • Knowledge of technology providers and emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of EPC work processes spanning major disciplines.
  • Ability to develop a clear evidence base and Cost/Benefit analysis to decision-making.
  • Experience managing technology implementation on complex projects is essential.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills.

JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in a core engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Relevant cumulative work experience of 15 years or more across project development, project delivery  and/or technical services in asset owner organizations in hydrogen related systems, industrial hydrogen gas production, chlor-alkali industry, electrolyzer or fuel cell manufacturing, project consultancy related to hydrogen processes or other industry handling hydrogen.
