Job Description

The Hybrids Technical Sales Engineer will drive solution-based sale of a mixed- technology hybrid plant (solar, wind, storage, and other) by understanding key customer requirements, technical constraints, and recommending the most profitable solution to both GE and the customer. They will accomplish this through development and execution of techno-economic analysis on a cloud based software platform.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Drive solution-based sale of a mixed-technology hybrid power plants (solar, wind, storage, thermal, and others)
  • Understand local customer needs, engage with global engineering team from multiple businesses (storage, solar, wind) and ensure GE Renewable Energy delivers a proper and optimal solution
  • Build opportunity-specific financial, technical, and/or statistical models if needed based on customer, market dynamics and technical constraints to simulate the operations of a hybrid power plant.
  • Explore new technologies that are critical to decarbonization such as green hydrogen and continue to expand the capability of hybrid solutions.
  • Support the development of the optimization value tool for hybrids in a statistical software programming language (i.e., R, Python, etc.).
  • Support commercial teams during Sales process by working with customer to optimize value proposition while creating differentiated GE proposal.
  • Support Strategic Marketing team during business strategy planning process by providing techno-economic analysis for various market and technology evolution scenarios.

Required Qualifications:-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics or Economics from an accredited university or college

Desired Characteristics:-

  • 3 years of experience in the renewable power industry (some combination of wind, solar or energy storage)
  • 2 years of project financial modeling experience
  • Understanding of / direct experience with electricity markets, energy economics, etc.
  • Program / project management experience in a customer-facing role
  • Programming experience in a statistical software language (i.e., R, Python, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to document, plan, market and execute programs
