Job Description

GE is looking for an experienced Hub Mechanical Manager, to be responsible of managing the Hub subsystem mechanical components development from concept to implementation.
The ideal candidate will lead a team of mechanical engineers, doing the calculation and analysis of wind turbine hub components, mainly Hub structural, Pitch Gearbox and fabricated parts. The Design Engineering team supports the product through the entire life cycle from conceptual design through design and development, testing, qualification, manufacturing and installed fleet support. In addition, you will drive technical excellence and continuous improvement in the design, cost performance, producibility and reliability of the component(s) under their responsibility.

Essential Responsibilities:-

  • Lead, support and coach a global team of structural experts in different countries (Germany, Spain, India)
  • Coordinate hub structural and mechanical designs for wind turbines with analytical and FEA methods
  • Responsible for Design, Development, Testing and Certification to prove component function and reliability
  • Provide innovative design solutions to meet aggressive timing, product cost and reliability targets
  • Work cross functionally with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, suppliers, field support and others to improve product quality and first-time yield
  • Support manufacturing, sourcing and field support with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes (nonconformities)
  • Knowledge management, technology watch and intellectual property
  • Drive quick, complete technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify design related corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Drive lessons learned, best practices and standardization into drawings, specifications, design practices and processes
  • Communicate design topics and technical topics to senior leadership and customers.
  • Coordinate a field data strategy to improve operability and reliability

Qualifications/Requirements:-

  • B. Tech/M. Tech (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead, coach or mentor structural engineers
  • Domain understanding of casted structural parts design and analysis.
  • Experience in renewable energy or power generation technology.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries, ability to work in a matrix team environment
  • Fluent English written and spoken

Desired Characteristics:-

  • B. Tech/M. Tech (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering.
  • Deep domain knowledge of casted structural parts design and analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of ANSYS or other finite element analysis tools.
  • Solid experience in designing, qualifying supplier and fleet support for mechanical components
  • Experience with problem solving tools and techniques
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions. Strong desire and ability to drive improvement and change
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Spanish and German written and spoken understanding
