Job Description

The GOTC function is responsible for technology adoption and technical support in the OEM sales program. It provides a foundation for Rockwell Automation’s reputation of excellence and knowledge of automation technology. Typical activities include Proof of Concept programming, control system design review, technical presentation, application notes development and application throughput testing, and startup engineering support. Advanced knowledge of the application of Rockwell Automation core products and systems: Motion Control, Logix, NetLinx, Operator Interface, PLC, I/O, Presence Sensing, Safety and Software as they relate to application are essential.

Job Role:-

  • Designs, defines and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems.
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions.

Job Complexity:-

  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Supervision:-

  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, generally instructions on new assignments.

Scope:-

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines the process by which to meet goals.

Interaction:-

  • Frequently interacts with peers and customers to gain cooperation of others or conduct presentations of technical information/project activities. Networks with senior internal/external personnel in own area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:-

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical field (ie: BS Electrical Engineering, BS Engineering Technology, BS Computer Science) or equivalent knowledge in personal computer hardware/software, or industrial and process controls.

Experience:-

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications:-

  • Strong applied systems knowledge in main focus area of expertise and related areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include multiple languages and cultures. Extensive experience interacting with multicultural customers and the successful resolution of their unique requirements.
  • General knowledge of control systems and computer technology.
  • Strong personal ethics and honesty.
  • Well-developed troubleshooting abilities.
  • General familiarity with test equipment and software.
  • Advanced knowledge of all Rockwell Automation core products: PLC, Motion Control, Operator Interface, Communications, I/O, presence sensing and software.
  • Typically 5+ years of control and/or computer system experience.
