Job Description

The Engineering Manager – Renewables will be responsible for the execution of multi-discipline engineering scope of work on renewable energy projects, typically solar PV, storage and hybrid and onshore wind technologies, at the pre-FEED and FEED to 30% and 60% design completion. She/he will be the engineering authority and lead a team of engineering disciplines to meet HSSE, quality, schedule and budget performance goals. She/he will be responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering across all disciplines.  Ideally, the role will be seated in our Chennai, India office.

Responsibilities:-

  • Driving technical assurance on Wood’s renewable energy engineering
  • Managing, supporting and supervising discipline engineering teams
  • Responsible for team strategy and team growth including hiring, internal reporting, and business development in coordination with other parallel Renewable team leaders
  • Ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of engineering and driving safety by design
  • Undertaking the role of process owner
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activites
  • Driving and leading on opportunities for innovation
  • Disseminate knowledge and experiences to other team members, and supporting the development of the team and team members

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (civil or electrical preferred)
  • Minimum 15 years progressive experience in engineering of renewable energy projects, or suitable experience and knowledge of engineering theories and techniques and high level of skill in application of this knowledge in managing engineering and design
  • Broad experience of capital value process (or equivalent stage gates) and agile project delivery
  • Current knowledge of renewable industry and technology development, offshore wind experience is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) in English, with the ability to engage and interface with stakeholders;
  • Ability to prepare and write high quality concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; with the Ability to operate at all levels of a business and convey detailed project information in a concise manner
  • Willingness for occasional domestic and international travel
