Engineering Manager – HVDC SW

Job Description

The Engineering manager HVDC SW shall provide leadership to develop and deliver required SW product features for utilities/tools used in HVDC project development and deployment, leading the Hyderabad based teams and collaboratively working with engineers based in HVDC Stafford, UK and other locations. The role is accountable
for business critical NPI software development in order to meet product requirements and
timelines as well as product care activities for the HVDC projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:-

  • Provide people leadership to the HVDC R&D and Product care SW team located at our Hyderabad office
  • Oversee development, integration, validation of software packages / features with existing systems and sub-systems.
  • Interact with a multi-discipline engineering team to meet the project requirements throughout its life cycle.
  • Evaluate and review formal and informal engineering documentation (e.g., Design
  • documents, code reviews, Release reports)
  • Guide the high-performance SW development team with the knowledge of best practices and analytical thinking
  • Effective use of Agile SW development practices
  • Manage new product development and customer responsiveness

Required Qualifications:-

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Technology or Engineering.
  • 10+ years of hands-on SW development experience
  • In-depth understanding and experience with TI RTOS or any other RTOS preferably in industrial automation domain
  • Extensive experience in working with C/C++ on RTOS
  • Having a working knowledge of modern microservice architectures and component development, including tools/technologies like Kafka, Java Spring, Neo4j, Docker containers and Kubernetes would be an added advantage
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity constructs (Static Analysis, Digital Signatures etc.)
  • Experience with SW development practices – Waterfall & Agile
  • Experienced user Jira and Confluence for task management and documentation
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Precise Verbal and written communication skills to be able to work in a global environment

Desired Characteristics:-

  • Master’s degree in SW, electronics engineering
  • Prior experience of working / leading SW development teams in industrial automation / controls domain
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink
  • Understanding of the IEC-61850 System Configuration standards for Industrial/Power equipment configuration
  • Shown technical problem-solving skills & experience
  • Demonstrated experience and track record of success in working with global engineering teams
  • Motivated great teammate, self- starter, results oriented
