Job Description

Lead Modelling, Simulation, and Testing teams at Engineering & Technology Centre – Bangalore in validation of HVAC products through analysis and testing activities for various business units of Trane Technologies.

As a part of a leadership role in India ETCs, the incumbent will collaborate closely with the internal and global product teams to drive the simulation-driven design of HVAC products.  At a strategic level, she/he will enhance capability in Modelling & Simulation (M&S), and Testing teams in alignment with the needs of various businesses and associated LRPs. While at the operational level, the incumbent will be responsible for project deliveries and execution as per AOPs with various SBUs, striking a healthy balance with long-term objectives. The incumbent will focus on technical proficiencies that cut across Multiphysics simulations to enable “first-time right design” strategy within the purview of ongoing New product development, VAVE and Quality improvement projects.


  • Build and Lead multiple teams and ensure 100% QDC in high-impact global design analysis projects. Collaborate with global cross-functional product development teams across the various businesses to bring in the best class M&S methodologies and solutions through operational and process excellence with a focus on speed to market.
  • Mentor, guide, hire, and scale the team with top-notch talents from time to time. Provide technical guidance and drive towards IP disclosures, patents, publications, especially towards meeting the company’s sustainability goals by challenging teams to go beyond what is possible. Promote progressive, diverse, and inclusive culture.
  • Develop the long-term roadmap for developing centre of excellence in applying Modelling and simulation technologies and build high-performance teams with applied mechanics competence for new product development, VAVE, and quality improvement programs
  • Develop standard practices, drive improvement initiatives, and suggest new analysis methodologies for improving the predictions, enhancing productivity and validate the design resulting in focussed testing that helps to achieve first time right design and optimum product development cycle time
  • Associate with Innovation team and develop a partnership with universities and non-industrial institutes, with experts in evaluating key technologies in advanced engineering and modeling and simulation technologies in meeting our sustainability objectives.
  • Maintain and optimize the software, hardware, and cloud computing resources.
  • Lead reliability engineering activities such as reliability test plans for HVAC products and critical components in collaboration with product teams and flawless execution using in-house and outsourced facilities
  • Manage lab infrastructure achieving local and corporate EHS compliance and implement yearly improvement plan towards 2030 sustainability targets
  • Maintain and improve Lab processes and guide in testing HVAC products, sustain R&R and achieve 100% FTQ
  • Sustain and improve Lab infrastructure by developing LRPs in alignment with SBU needs and establishing additional lab capabilities from time to time
  • Align with global Lab leadership, participate in global lab council for effective utilization of lab infrastructure, establishing and sustain common lab processes across global labs in the performance and reliability evaluation of HVAC products


  • Ph.D. or Masters in Thermal, Applied Mechanics, Engg. Design & Aerospace (or closely related field) with Modelling and Simulation or product validation /testing as a major area of research/work.  He/she should have 16-20 years of experience in above mentioned or closely related areas with at least +5 years in leading a large team of M&S engineers.

Key Competencies:-

  • Extensive experience in collaborating with Process partners/Leaders/Peers in communicating the mission, vision, and action plan. Good management experience in a cross-functional, international, multi-disciplinary product company.
  • Hands-on experience on computational methods such as FEA, CFD, etc. and perform 3D /1D/ multi-physics analysis in ensuring structural reliability, optimized internal & external airflows, combustion and heat transfer.
  • Demonstrated experience in people management, leading projects, process excellence with a record of successful implementation of new processes and practices. Strong critical thinking, with a clear vision and translating that into important programs.
  • Strong Conflict management and systematic problem-solving skills. Ability to think strategically in collaboration with multiple functions/regions/stakeholders.
  • Work in a matrix and open consensus-oriented team environment achieving overall team performance, Adept in Project management skills and tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills, coaching, and mentoring various engineering functional teams to build a strong cross-functional team.
  • Strong leadership experience with good communication skills and relationship management with stakeholders in a highly cross-functional environment and able to synergize with peers locally and globally
  • Good understanding of the past, present, and future state of computational methods and testing across industrial companies/HVAC companies.
  • Knowledge of Materials and processing technologies with a good understanding of technology trends and best practices in Modelling & Simulation, IP and innovation processes
  • Experience in design/testing of HVAC airflow systems or components like blowers, fans, and heat exchangers.  Industrial experience in a research setting or vice versa with a proven track record of bringing concepts to products with the ability to create design guidelines and standards
  • Experience in psychrometry/ heat transfer/refrigeration laboratory and testing CHVAC products or related components such as heat exchangers, compressors, blowers, etc.
  • Experience in applying AMCA, AHRI, ASHRAE standards in performance and reliability evaluation of refrigeration and air conditioning products will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of various standards, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 17025 and apply the concepts in sustaining and improving Lab quality and EHS management systems.
