Job Description

  • Pursue novel motor and servo-drive designs for new automotive products and technologies, such as electric steering, braking, chassis and transmission systems.
  • Use finite element modelling and analytical calculations to analyze and optimize motors, actuators and sensors; and their electric drive systems.
  • Customize and automate simulations using a variety of design and analysis tools such as Ansys, Motor-CAD and MATLAB.
  • Incorporate technology developments into new designs to improve performance, fault tolerance, controllability and cost.
  • Develop ‘Digital Twin’ models for virtual prototyping, embracing multi-physics simulation and cloud computing and participate in investigation and solution of production challenges.

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Ideally post graduate qualifications in motor design.
  • A sound knowledge of motor operating and control principles.
  • Fluent English language (and willingness for occasional travel to Europe if required).
  • Useful experience would include: motor electromagnetic design and optimization; motor drive/control for permanent magnet AC machines; FE simulation (e.g. Ansys Maxwell, Motor-CAD); optimization methods; programming/scripting (e.g. MATLAB); thermal or structural modelling, and automation of these simulation and model generation activities.
