Job Description

In this position as Substation Design Engineer, you will join our global team of experts and work closely with the Head of the Section. Your finest task in our team will be Onshore/Offshore substation design (up to 500kV) and design calculations for transmission networks.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:-

  • Be involved in EHV design of Onshore/Offshore AIS/GIS substations.
  • Be responsible for implementing and specifying SVC/Compensators, Transformers, Reactors, Harmonic filters.
  • Be responsible for independently developing layout design of Onshore and offshore substations with minimum input.
  • Be responsible for Earthing and lightning protection design.
  • Be responsible for Protection and Interlock logic for the substation control system.
  • Form a part of tendering team, preparing proposals for Greenfield and brownfield projects.

Work in close collaboration with skilled designers to create an optimal electrical design.

  • Be involved in engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports.
  • Prepare single line diagrams, cable schedules, generate MTOs, etc.
  • Be involved in inter-departmental coordination and communication with colleagues in India and Europe.
  • Prepare and review electrical equipment datasheets.

Furthermore, you should:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-8 years of experience
  • Have knowledge of Equipment Testing and Site commissioning
  • Have strong knowledge of High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC, CIGRE, NEC etc.)
  • Good knowledge of EHV offshore platform design and requirements is desirable.
  • Have experience in planning and design of EHV Over Head Lines.
  • Be familiar with IEC 61850 based substation automation system.
  • Have knowledge of bonding and termination of cables up to 500kV.
  • Have expertise in electrical system studies and calculations using Powerfactory, PSCAD or ETAP.
  • Have experience in working on projects involving Hazardous environments.
  • Be conversant with IEC, IEEE, NEC, CIGRE, NEMA, NFPA and API standards.
  • Be proficient in all Microsoft Office software particularly Visio, MS Excel and Word
  • Have knowledge of AutoCAD and working on 2D drawings.
