Design Engineer/ Sr.Design Engineer: NPD-ITBA

As a member of an engineering team, the engineer contributes to the development of products.

The development must be done in accordance with the applicable procedures and ensure compliance with the main specification requirements in all aspects (product functionality and quality, development timing & cost, execution costs). Within this mission, the engineer will apply his / her creativity to achieve an innovative and quality design.

Roles and Responsibilities:- Design:-

• Study the project inputs and collect data from customer.
• Validate the data source and content and take decision whether to proceed for design work or not. Involve in project kick off meeting with customer.
• Freeze the scope of work and tentative project delivery schedule.
• Discuss projects scope of supply, Project delivery schedule, rough concepts design, identify any potential roadblocks.
• Design tooling knowledge used for bolt tightening, riveting, or robotic dispensing applications are added advantage.
• Prepare all manufacturing drawings along with appropriate GD & T, Material, & assembly drawing for shop release.

Work Planning and Mentoring:-

• Allocate work to the Engineers based on criticality/ complexity of the task.
• Monitor the internal team and vendor’s adherence to SOPs.
• Provide technical guidance to the team.
• Provide inputs to the Project Leader on technical trainings.
• Share learnings from new projects with the Team.
• Conduct design reviews, raise red flags or project when you observe any major hurdle in delivering Right First Time.
• Follow the Atlas Copco/ customer specified standards to carry out designing of the machine: modify drawings/design based on feedback received from Project leader and Client.

Status Reporting and Query Resolution:-

• Resolve customer’s technical queries & internal design engineer’s queries.
• Ability to solve shop assembly problems & provide relevant solution to issue.
• Create weekly status reports to be shared internally and externally to update stakeholders on project progress.

Quality Check & Project Closure:-

• Conduct quality checks of self and team’s output to achieve adherence to defined quality standards.
• To deliver error free outputs “FIRST TIME RIGHT”. Follow four eye principle (first & second check of every design) Follow project closure procedure by creating respective document mentioned in project closure list.
• Prepare ISO Documentation. Seek feedback from customers from time to time and drive improvements in the internal processes

Educational requirements:-

• B.E Mechanical/ Mechatronics with 3+ years of experience.

Experience Requirements:-

• Design experience 3+ years in Automaton/fixtures tooling/ special purpose machines, material handling equipment.
• Interaction with Global customers would be added advantage.
• Sound technical knowledge and GD & T
• Good Communications skills
• Sound knowledge of Design calculations
• Mechanical design hands-on experience is mandatory
• Experience in (Fixture, SPM machines, Sheet metal, Structures, Material handling equipment, Tools, Pneumatic, packaging machines, checking fixtures,
• Gantries, Slide’s manual, Slide’s pneumatics, Lifters, Motor/gearbox selections)
• Preferred Software background (Solid edge, Solid works, AutoCAD)
• Expert in project planning & execution
• Pneumatic, CAE, controls knowledge is added advantage.
