Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director-General (Programs) or a designated officer, this role will lead a team of professionals – International and National Officers. The Chief will lead the engagement with private sector companies and financial sector institutions to provide expert advice, develop policies, seek innovative entrepreneurship and risk mitigation instruments, and lead the resource mobilization and fund-raising efforts. S/he will lead the Global Solar Financing facility including financing and capital/investment flows to different continents that will meet ISA’s mandates in enabling private financing for solar projects/initiatives.

Your Broader Scope of Work (but not limited to):-

  • Lead engagement with global and private sector stakeholders in ISA activities especially related to grid scale solar, decentralized solar, battery storage and new technologies.
  • Lead the team on innovative financing instruments including derisking, insurance, equity and other risk mitigation instruments
  • Raise Funds from global and national agencies to develop people’s skills training, research, and innovation (solar power)
  • Improve global access to Solar Components and Raw Materials (as part of Energy Transition and Energy Security).
  • Raise investments for Solar and manage investments
  • Relationship and Partnership Management
  • Supervise and manage the staff of the service.

Education:-

  • Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in Engineering,Economics, Business Administration, Management including Energy Management, Public Administration, or a related discipline required.

What you will need to succeed:-

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience with strong preference for a combination of experience working in private sector as well as public/ multilateral institutions with focus on policy, regulatory and financing arrangements. Prior experience in designing private sector solar investments, fundraising, investment management, or partnership development is required. This must include at least 4 years of work experience at a P3 level (or equivalent) managing multilateral fundraising activities within a major international organization, multilateral development financial organizations, private sector groups in the solar or renewable energy sectors, or an international and/or national NGO. Preference will be given to candidates who have between three to five years of relevant private sector experience including international experience in enabling private sector investments through policy, regulatory and financing innovations in solar and battery storage. Experience in trust fund management is also preferred.

Languages:-

  • The role requires strong writing and verbal communication skills. As English is the official and working language of the organization, a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of additional languages, such as French, Spanish, or Arabic, would be considered an advantage
