Job Description

We are looking for a technically focused engineer with experience in hydraulic modelling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for complex hydraulic systems, particularly for pumped storage applications. The role focuses on understanding energy losses, transient flow regimes, and water level impacts using tools like ECRAS and Flow3D.

Responsibilities:-

  • Conduct CFD modelling of hydraulic structures (intakes, tunnels, surge chambers, etc.)
  • Analyse energy dissipation, head losses, and flow transitions across operating modes
  • Model head/tailwater level interactions during generation and pumping cycles
  • Support physical modelling teams with numerical pre-analysis and post-validation
  • Optimise hydraulic performance through scenario testing and flow tuning
  • Produce high-quality technical outputs, visualisations, and reporting

Qualifications And Experience:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Hydraulic, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in hydraulic system modelling, including pumped storage or hydropower
  • Strong proficiency in CFD tools such as Flow3D, OpenFOAM, or ANSYS Fluent
  • Experience with ECRAS, HEC-RAS or similar for energy and water level analysis
  • Solid understanding of turbulent flow, flow transitions, and energy loss mechanisms
  • Ability to work with and interpret physical model results for calibration and validation
  • Strong reporting, communication, and visualisation skills for technical and non-technical audiences
