Job Description

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Technical Team Leader/Specialist with an increasing reputation internally and externally within their field and responsible for managing large project teams.
  • Authors high quality technical reports.
  • Thorough understanding of Network Rail, Railway Group standards, British Standards and Safety principles.
  • Understands technical issues and costs related to selection of complex design features within discipline.
  • Able to present their work and represent their colleagues on the project in presentations and meetings.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, including presentations to senior management and/or external clients.
  • Active contributor to technical promotion e.g., internal case studies, papers, training seminars.
  • Applies broad technical experience and knowledge and able to check and/or critically review work of all those in the project team.
  • Able to check complex designs by others and certify compliance.
  • Exhibits capability and aptitude to interface and integrate with technical teams outside of business unit.
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of sustainability principles.
  • Able to prepare and review project cost estimates for all packages of work.
  • Applies professional knowledge and experienced judgement but refers to Heads of Technology for complex matters.
  • Forms very good working relationships with Heads of Technology appropriate to the discipline.
  • Fully proficient in OLE analysis & designs and able to review deliverables of his/her team.
  • Offer new ideas to improve solutions and processes and see-through ideas to implementation and completion.
  • Improves current areas or develops new areas of technology for business.
  • Knowledge of OLE CAD standards.
  • Responsible for completion of projects to time and cost.
  • Able to successfully manage a Group – manage staff development, personnel management, staff appraisals etc.
  • Group Leader supervising other professionals.
  • Developed relationships with other business units and divisions within Bangalore and UK.

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related discipline with typically 14 years of relevant experience including technical or operational leadership and project management.
  • Expected to have attained Chartered status.
  • Senior Engineer / Group Engineer with experience of managing sizable projects end-to-end.
  • Experienced senior engineer with ability to train less experienced team members.
  • Shows clear ability to lead teams.
  • Able to handle people issues among the team members without causing additional conflicts.
  • Able to handle complex technical and managerial challenges.
  • Able to realistically estimate pricing associated with projects within their area of expertise, and manage bid responses including pricing associated with projects across a range of expertise.
  • Show evidence in continuous professional development.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
