Job Description

The Assistant Manager – PV Performance Engineering will be based in Hyderabad, India.  Onboarding will be virtual for the time being with occasional socially distanced meetings at a Nextracker office. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager – Data Science. The Assistant Manager – PV Performance Engineering will work with the Nextracker team to develop tools that will improve the Nextracker product portfolio. He or she will work with a diverse and dedicated team of computer scientists and engineers to grow Nextracker’s reach world-wide.

Here is a glimpse of what you will do:-

  • Deploy and optimize software and data analysis solutions and services, and to monitor and optimize the performance of the global NX operating fleet
  • Drive and scale Measurement & Verification (M&V) activities to enable TrueCapture optimization
    • Compare TrueCapture measured gains to quoted and modeled gains, investigate & resolve differences with support from Product & Engineering teams
    • Establish analysis methods, data cleaning methods, automation, and processes to scale-up the calculation of TrueCapture measured gains. Identify & resolve bottlenecks and ensure streamlined execution.
  • Lead team to actively monitor and analyze solar resource, production, and operations data on PV and ESS power plants, enabling customer satisfaction by creating leading performance indicators and analysis, and optimizing performance
    • Regularly compare simulated data with field empirical results and draw conclusions
    • Develop tools to create daily monitoring reports on product health and product performance.
    • Implement and manage dashboards to monitor NX fleet performance; identify & resolve data quality/integrity issues
    • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques; develop and provide ongoing reports
    • Build summaries and reports for data analytics, pulled directly from the Azure database. Seek opportunities for automation and “no touch” analysis
    • Manage KPIs for the NX operating fleet, including availability/uptime
    • Optimize statistical efficiency and quality throughout, and establish appropriate process and business practices to ensure efficient execution
  • Create, implement, and manage processes to scale data analysis/collection, databases, dashboards, and reporting
    • Clean, filter, and manage large sets of data; identify data quality/integrity improvements and ensure they are properly addressed
    • Troubleshoot data quality and see issues to resolution
    • Troubleshoot PV equipment, performance, or operational issues by leveraging data signatures

Here is some of what you will need (required):-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus
  • Minimum 4 years of data science, performance engineering or analytics experience, working with large data sets
  • Ability to lead a team on mission-critical activities related to data science & performance engineering
  • Ability to develop, prioritize, and drive initiatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Industry-specific experience regarding solar project performance, with knowledge of system design, SCADA/DAS, communications, and performance characteristics, metrics, & analytics
  • Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks), PowerBI

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:-

  • Knowledge of statistics, and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Familiar with performance engineering tools including PVSyst, PV-LIB and other PV software/models
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Experience accessing and handling large data sets, APIs, and ML analysis tools in Python
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
