Job Description

Under the guidance of Assistant Director – ESG India Lead, the Assistant Manager Sustainability is responsible for driving, overseeing environmental, social, corporate governance policies and procedures, as well as reviewing transactions to be socially responsible, environmentally sustainable and comply with safeguarding policies.

The opportunity:-

Assistant Manager Sustainability role will be responsible for following policies and implementing initiatives to reduce carbon emission and environmentally sustainable solutions across GDS India towards attaining the overall EY GDS goal to become Carbon net zero by 2025.

The role should be capable enough to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various environmental programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.

key Responsibilities:-

  • Support Workplace Enablement Services Center of Excellence team to understand, evaluate the broader value on environmental impacts and drive outcomes associated with their Services, operations, programs and projects.
  • Responsible to manage and report carbon footprint handled by GDS India Workplace Enablement Services to the Global Sustainability team and Leadership.
  • Align to EY GDS Sustainability goals and implement, run initiatives across GDS India to help drive purposeful growth and create long-term value for our stakeholders targeting to achieve net zero in 2025.
  • Work closely with GDS Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability team, represent for Workplace Enablement Services to contribute towards organisation led CR and sustainability initiatives.
  • Report and publish ESG metrics to ESG Lead India and WES Leadership.
  • Drive sustainable transformational identified initiatives, strive towards green & circular economy model for Workplace Enablement Services.
  • Develop a robust Waste management process and implement across GDS India with an ambition to achieve Zero landfill from EY GDS India.
  • Ensure EY GDS India meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to Environmental Sustainability at work and also during business operations.
  • Coordinate with respective WES Center POCs across GDS India to collate reports, impart necessary training, implement identified initiatives.
  • Responsible for team building and development across centres.
  • Demonstrate leadership and inculcate EY values and culture in the team.

Qualification And Experience:-

  • Graduate degree in sustainability/environment or engineering (chemical/mechanical/civil) from reputed institutes in India or similar experience with a focus on environment, sustainability and climate change issues
  • 5-7 years of managerial experience, with minimum 3 years of experience in managing similar role in comparable organisations, with sound knowledge & experience, in workplace services domain.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in preparing sustainability reports and strategies, such as undertaking materiality assessments, peer benchmarking, stakeholder engagement activities and preparation of internal and external reporting
  • Practical experience in sustainable procurement, change management and sustainability strategy development

Ideally, you’ll also have:-

  • Experience in working in large matrixed organizations
  • Ability to function in a rapidly changing, heavily matrixed and often virtual environment
  • Ability to prioritize, drive and adapt to change quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Culturally sensitivity and be capable of handling interactions with a “global mindset”
  • To Coach/mentor team members in a cross-functional environment
