Job Description

Tower Module in Vestas Power Solutions is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. Tower Technology is a sub-department of Tower Module. The department is responsible for the technology strategy of the tower module and deliver the needed technological solutions for towers in alignment with future wind turbine requirements, module strategy and module KPI’s like year on year levelized cost of energy reduction (LCOE).
The team is located at 3 different sites: Aarhus in Denmark, Porto in Portugal, and Chennai in India. The team consists of 15+ highly skilled engineers with background in Mechanical/Structural/Civil engineering

Responsibilities:-

  • Accountable for providing the high quality and cost-efficient design solutions with highest performance for manufacturing of wind turbine components/assembly
  • Execution of new technology projects in related to wing turbine towers
  • Accountable for understanding, clarifying, and reviewing design specification, etc
  • Design verification & validation, performing DFMES, design risk associated in manufacturing value chain
  • Prepare 3D concepts and detailed drawings for the design
  • Perform FEA-based structural assessments of the design
  • Ensure cross functional collaboration with relevant interface owners throughout the value chain
  • Communicate technical information to external stakeholders (tower manufacturers, certification bodies, customer etc.)

Qualifications:-

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Professional experience 4-8 years (Minimum relevant experience of 4 years)
  • Solid experience in mechanical design & manufacturing with full value chain understanding
  • Surface treatment & paint system knowledge related to steel would be an added advantage
  • Experience in structural assessments using FEA (ANSYS)
  • Experience with CE marking for tools / DFMEA / risk assessment etc
  • Experience in 3D-modeling and 2D-drafting, E.g. Using Creo / Pdm-link
  • Work experience on heavy lifting/ transportation equipment

Competencies:-

  • Skilled knowledge in engineering basics, good understanding of engineering design & Manufacturing methodologies (for steel & sheet metal components).
  • Experience in structural assessments using FEA (Ansys)
  • Work experience in GD&T
  • Exposure or experience with international engineering standards like ASME/EN/ISO etc
  • Experience with paint systems, steel surface treatment and surface preparations for sheet metal would be added advantage
  • Experience or exposure in environmental impact assessment is an added advantage
  • Have good English communication skills to convey complex problems to a wide range of stakeholders
